Great location near Piazza Navona. The hotel is small, quiet, clean and the staff is professional and helpful. An added bonus was the organ player practicing during our 5 night stay at the church next door. We recommend this hotel!

Stayed 4 nights and made the right choice with Hotel Portoghesi. Excellent Pantheon-area location, walkable to big attractions in all directions (Vatican, Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps). Very accommodating staff, printed documents for us, and made good recommendations for meals.

The Portoghesi's location is ideal for those exploring by foot. We made it to all of the traditional sites with no trouble. The staff were most gracious and eager to assist us with recommendations for food and activities. Breakfast service at the hotel was especially good! Though the rooms are small, the location and service makes up for it.

Very comfortable, clean, quiet hotel in an excellent location (we walked to everything--Coliseum, St Peter's, Spanish steps (closest metro station), Pantheon, etc). Our room was small but nicely appointed; it looked out on a small courtyard so it was a bit on the dark side, but we were out all day so it didn't really matter. We stayed for 4 nights...

This is our second time staying at this hotel, because of the location. It's very close to Piazza Navarone and many restaurants. Also, walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and Parthenon. The rooms are small, which is to be expected in an older hotel. The bathrooms are newly remodeled with beautiful tile, but with the tiniest shower I've ever used!...

We took Rick Steves' advice and booked 3 days at this hotel for the last days of our recent trip to Italy. The location was perfect, easy walking distance to all the major sites in Rome yet quiet on a little used street. The rooms were very nice, with rich fabrics and nice furniture giving it an old world feel...

Great place to stay if you want a quiet hotel, good service and nice older rooms right in the center of Rome's attractions. We were able to walk to virtually everything we wanted to see and do in a two day stay. A great restaurant next door! This hotel was worth every penny!

Just returned from Rome and a 4-night stay and 2 1-night stays at the Portoghesi. We had stayed there almost 15 years ago, and it's just the same as I remembered, only better. The entire hotel staff are excellent in every way. They couldn't be more welcoming, helpful, and courteous. We left some of our luggage while we were away...
