My husband, 2 daughters (8 years old) and I stayed at Villa Urbani for 5 nights. Laura set up our airport/train transfers and they worked out perfectly. I was a little worried about having two young girls at a B & B, but it all worked out fine. The house is beautiful, clean and spacious. We stayed in the gray...

Host Laura very helpful. Fantastic roman villa with large rooms, cleaned daily. Hot shower. Big comfortable bed. Breakfast very 'Roman' breakfast (Romans don't do breakfast like the Brits). Continental - cheese, ham, croissant, bread, yoghurt, orange juice, coffee, tea, apple cake etc - fine for our needs. Situated at the top of the hill from Trastevere. Get the 75 or...

We loved our stay here. We occupied the gold room and the single room. The gold room looks out to the front/side of the villa, a beautiful aspect from the bed and good for watching the world go by. Yes, it can be noisy with the sound of cars and bikes accelerating up the hill and the tall buildings bounce...

We stayed two nights in the Gold Room. The house itself is clean and elegant, and the host is very nice and accommodating. The location is great - just a short 15 minute walk into Trastevere. Our room was on the corner of the house facing two streets. Although it is a residential neighborhood, the very loud sounds of traffic...

My family and I stayed at Villa Urbani while in Rome for my sisters wedding. Our stay was wonderful, the rooms are spacious and clean and the host Laura is very accommodating and made good recommendations for local restaurants. My sister also had pictures taken at the villa as she got ready for the wedding as the decor and sweeping...

I had a relaxing stay at Villa Urbani, it's a superb location in the Trastevere, and only a few minutes walk to the wonderful views from the Gianicolo. I walked to all of the major Roman sites from the villa, but there is also a bus line just down the street that will take you to Teatro Marcello or Piazza...

My girlfriend and I stayed at Villa Urbani at the beginning of January this year and we had a brilliant stay. Our room was clean, spacious and had a lovely view out onto the quiet street. It was a very pleasant trot down the hill into the gorgeous town of Trastevere. Laura was very accommodating and offered lots of tips...

Great little B&B on the hills of Trastevere near the Giancolo. My wife and I live in Italy and we come to Rome at least once a year because we love Rome. We stayed all over the place but we prefer the vibe of Trastevere. It feels like the real Rome and is near the center with great food and...

My mother, sister and I stayed for 3 nights at Villa Urbani leading up to Christmas day. Laura and her staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The rooms were absolutely beautiful and clean, with towering ceilings. I would absolutely stay here again. Also, the car service recommended by Laura was very professional, timely and a 20% or so savings...

This Fall my wife and I spent four days in a delightful B&B in Rome. The Villa Urbani is actually a family villa, owned and run by Laura, a charming and informative host. She speaks excellent English, if that is a requirement. The villa is located in a quiet residential area, right on the border of the Janiculum And Trastevere. Not only is...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
