Before booking this hotel I read the reviews here. Mixed, as they always are, in particular I was very worried by the one titled 'hell hole'! However when I got there It was perfect for someone on a tight budget. Room: Single bed, spotlessly clean, comfy. There was a small fridge; useful for bottles of water as there is no...

Went for 4 nights to Rome during Easter break. Rubbish breakfast only had it one morning . Rooms were small, no wifi. Shower was too small but clean. Location was the only good thing about this hotel as its 10 min walk from termini station. Good food places near the hotel and reasonable . Although at night it can be...

Our plans changed and we booked this hotel through lastminute.com. Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor, we knew that this would be a bare-bones hotel. However, the list of amenities included air conditioning, which turned out not to be entirely accurate. When we checked in, we asked the surly receptionist if the a/c worked and he assured us that it...

We stayed for 2 nights and this little place was ideal. Not the grandest looking place, but on opening the shutters we found a little terrace. Chairs, candlelight and orange trees to enjoy a summer evening in Rome with a glass of limoncello! for the money this hotel is excellent. Helpful staff and clean. Quiet at night. Only downside is...

Stayed in Rome during Easter, the location was the only best part however at night it is very dark and dangerous around the location of the Midi hotel. The cafes around the hotel are very cheap with lots of choice . The breakfast was horrible with just toast and croissants everyday including tea and coffee. We were very happy to...

A friend and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. After reading some of the reviews I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Our room was in the building next door to the main reception and was accessed on a buzzer system. Our room was at the top of the building (51 steps,...

After reading some of the reviews on this site I didn't expect much from this hotel however, on arrival we soon realised the bad reviews were most definitely incorrect. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the road so it was noisy if the window was open but that can only be expected in a city location. However,...

Situated a short walk from the main Terminus, the Midi is a great little budget hotel. Not many rooms, but they are well maintained and comfortable. Service is superb - the breakfast room, although small, has a garden attached so you can eat al fresco. It's in an ideal position for transport, as there are bus stops within a 5...

On arriving the grounds, the orangy interior gave a really comforting ambient. The key handled to be opens up the single ensuite room on the second floor. Room was all in all very cosy with the orangy and yellow bed fittings. Window overlooks the greenhouse like breakfast area. Unfortunately, there was extremely weak wifi connection in room, I had to...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
