Stayed here for 4 nights after leaving the cardinal hotel after they refused to acknowledge our booking. Elvezia is a fab location! Right next to trevi fountain and 5 mins walk to collosseum! Not the most up to date hotel, but staff friendly and front desk helpful and pleasant. Wifi was decent in the lobby, not great in the rooms....

Travelled as a couple and stayed there for 4 nights for my birthday in November 2016. Room was very tired, damp stains on the ceiling. In real need of redecoration. Opened the window and looked out onto a grubby courtyard. My biggest grievance was the room was so dark and cold. I froze for the entire stay. The bedding was...

Excellent location of the hotel, next to Vittorio Emmanuelle square. A really 4 stars hotel with a nice terrace on the roof where you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. The 5th floor has rooms with balconies- for those who smoke. The price is around 140 euros per night. Very good breakfast, diversity and plenty of food.

This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed at!!. Never again. The traffic outside never stopped and it was if we were laying on the streets! The breakfast was almost just sweets (all sugar)  The staff was nice. The terrace had a very nice view.

This is Italy, quite an old city, so I expect some wear and tear for the hotels. Apart from a bit of age, this place has a perfect location to the Colliseum, many churches and ruins, Trevi fountain etc. & the view from the roof is incredible! The location near everything made this location convenient, and the rooftop view was...

Have just had a city break in Rome and stayed at this hotel. It is a traditional hotel with a long winding staircase and ornate decor. We were given a room on the sixth floor with a balcony which gives you outstanding views. There is 2 lifts in the hotel but only one takes you to the sixth floor. The...

We spent a week there during Christmas 2014 and we walked to most of the sites, even to St. Peter's, 2.8 miles. The rooms are worn, the shower stall was tight, breakfast was uninspired. The coffee was great, the staff pleasant and accommodating. There is a wonderful rooftop garden, with fantastic views.

Nor was I expecting it to be the Hilton. The price of the room was very reasonable especially when you consider you are within blocks of the Forum and about 10 blocks from the Colosseum. It's a 48 euro cab ride from the airport. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. Unfortunately this hotel suffers from age...

Good central location with clean rooms. The breakfast has only cold offerings apart from hard boiled eggs.We experienced (as did others) a plumbing odour in our bathroom. The hotel sprayed and offered a second room however it was the final night and we did not wish to pack and unpack. The central location resulted in noisy nights however it was...

Title says it all. This hotel is within reasonable walking distances of most of the major sites in Rome. It's about a $50 Euro cab ride from the airport. We stayed here for 3 nights, prior to a med. cruise, on Sept. 12 - 14, 2014. The hotel is older and retains some of the issue's with age - such...

Staying in Piazza Venezia / Ancient City

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazza Venezia / Ancient City
If all roads lead to Rome, then they all end here. Piazza Venezia and the Ancient City are the very epicenter of the Eternal City. Within a 360-degree turn, Roman history unrolls in front of you, from its ancient beginnings to its 21st century transformations. Whether it’s those historical playgrounds known as the Roman and Imperial Forums, or the side-street shops, trattorie, and churches, this neighbourhood packs a cultural punch and then some. Screaming scooters, battling buses, crazy cars, and lots of foot traffic converge in the area all day long. By dusk, a different vibe emerges as the neighbourhood quiets down. Don't be surprised if you find yourself passing through the Piazza Venezia at least once a day, since it’s the most direct way to get from one side of town to another.
