The apartment has good location which only 10 minutes walk to the Coloseo and 3 minutes walk to the Metro Mazoni. Room is small but clean. Good option especially in peak season. I will definitely recommend it to friends. The host recommended a very nice restaurant to me , good food and competitive prices.

My wife and I had a wonderful 2 nights stay at Gentes B&B. The owners were very friendly and helpful in recommending restaurants and sights to see in the area. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower and bathroom were perfect. The internet worked without any problems. Also available are three different coffee/espresso machines. We spent wonderful 3 days in Rome this April. Gentes is a perfect place for those who don't want to waste time using public transport to reach the city centre. Breakfast was good enough to start a new day full of motion. The room was clean, but a little cool at night. But the problem was solved by closing windows:)... More

Although a bit hard to find as it is in an apartment block, our taxi driver knew exactly how to find it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a very cute converted apartment with 3 separate rooms. We stayed in the purple (triple) room, which was clean and contemporary. We had to share a bathroom across the... More

We found this place a little difficult to find at first but once we got there the staff were incredibly friendly and gave us a few good places to go. We stayed in the orange room (double) which was very clean and contemporary in design. The bed was comfortable and made every day. We did have a peak at the... More

My friend and I got this B&B from our friend who already stayed here last year, so we book for 2 nights. We arrived around 7.30 pm and try to look this place. 1. The address is correct but somehow I found the location in Trip Advisor lead us to other part of Via Tasso 2. There is no clue... More

Small B&B. Room was fine. Bathroom across the hall. We didn't have hot water the first morning. Not sure why. The next two mornings were fine. Breakfast was at the coffee shop/bar on the corner. You get a croissant and a cappuccino which seems to be pretty standard fair for the smaller b&bs. The street it was on looked a... More

Typical small Italian B&B in downtown Rome. Coliseum is an easy walk. Very helpful staff and very friendly. Room was clean as was our bathroom. (the bathroom for our room was across the hall. we had the Orange room.) We liked the sounds of the city and even though we could hear folks outside, it was quiet enough for easy... More

Nice and quiet bed and breakfast with spacious rooms. Good breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is very good as it's 2-3 minutes walk to Manzoni metro station, which itself is just two stops away from the main station (Termini) - very easy to reach, even with heavy luggage. Also, just 10-15 minutes walk to the Colosseum.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gentes B&B is a few meters away from the second largest Basilica in Rome and a few minutes' walk from the main symbol of Rome, the Colosseum. The hotel is located in the heart of the capital's history: the popular Via Tasso, actually, is the site of the Historical Museum of the Liberation of Italy and even if is in a central position in Rome, is extremely quiet, because it's away from the main streets and protected by the building of the Scala Santa. ... more   less
