The location was great as we wheeled our 50lb luggage from the train station to the hotel in 2-3 minutes. The metro line is very close and there are many bus lines nearby to take you to almost anywhere in the city.
I would recommend this hotel as it meets all the requirements expected of a good hotel providing very good service in a central location. I would stay again.
The WC and shower are in separate which didn’t seem hygienic. No bidet, No toilet brush. No closed wardrobe.
There is a safe, small Fridge (although not on on arrival) No kettle. There was a coffee maker. No slippers or shower mats.
There is a primary School in back yard so there might some disturbance on school days although was not a problem.
The room had an extra bed, this made the room feel cramped with not a lot space to move around.
Breakfast was expensive at €12 per head.
No fried eggs, they had boiled eggs, bacon. Ham, cheese, orange, pineapple and peach juice, bread, rolls, toaster, cereal and yogurts. Etc
Staff were very polite and helpful.
Check in was very easy. The room was of a very good standard, with a great bathroom, comfy bed, plenty of wardrobe space and a decent tv. There was a minibar fridge. Whilst we didn’t consume anything, we used the fridge to refrigerator food items such as cheese and salami. There is a German chain supermarket beginning with ‘L’ 10 minutes walk away and a supermarket in the nearby shopping centre which is in the direction of the ‘Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias’.
The location of the hotel is excellent, with a brilliant bus 19 service:
The bus stop literally outside the hotel is called Menorca Franca, and goes to the city centre and takes about 15 minutes. Their is a stop outside the main train station ‘Estació del Nord’ in the city centre but just to the left a bit (left if you are looking out from the station) where the bus to go back from the city centre to the hotel starts (they usually have their hazard lights on indicating they are at the starting stop).
The bus stop opposite the hotel on the other side of the road is called Menorca Balears and takes you to the beach. A bus back to the hotel from the beach area can be found on street ‘Carrer De La Reina’.
Just remember if you walk outside the hotel past the hotel reception - the bus right goes to the city centre, the bus left goes to the beach. All bus single tickets cost €1.50 and drivers gave me change from €5 notes.
Tips for eating: there is a brilliant pizza restaurant near the hotel ‘Regina Di Napoli’. There is also a very good restaurant that offered a set menu starter + paella + small desert + beer or soft drink for €16.50 ‘El Generalife’ on Carrer De Navellos’.
Would stay at this hotel again.
However, the lighting was poor, with no ceiling lights to give illumination other than reading lights for the head of the bed. There was no desk but a low table and a low sofa that were not useful for any work on a computer. Also there were no electric plugs other than several at the bedhead end of the room.
These things were not too important, but the toilet arrangements were awful!
The wash basin was in the bedroom, and the wc and shower were behind swinging doors made of some sort of opaque glass. Neither door could be properly closed - the wc door has a gap of about a quarter inch so that every sound made in the wc was heard in the bedroom!
There were no light switches in either the wc or the shower room - lights came on by detecting motion- and went off inconveniently in my case.
The worst complaint, which I note has been made before, obviously without action being taken, is that taking a shower in the morning was risky because of the regular swings between scalding hot and cold water. Luckily the shower room is large enough so that you can quickly get out of the way of the water!
On the plus side, location for the centre of Valencia is excellent, and there is a parking garage attached to the hotel.
I had an interior-facing room which they were hesitant to give me on account of it being deemed less premium but the quiet was incomparable.
Staff at reception:
Generally friendly and helpful with queries on Valencia.
Hotel Entrance & reception:
Ah, be careful, the entrance is "very small", not prominent and not a proper house/hotel entrance size. It can be missed easily.
From the entrance, walk straight in and another flight of stairs or a lift to the reception. Reception area is pretty smallish.
Hotel room:
Very clean. Window: v small openings and opens to other hotel rooms windows.
I did not expect the hotel room to feel so "plastic" as the flooring, walls etc were laminates. Room size feels a bit small and dark too.
When I sat by the bed and watch TV i could feel the bed head vibrate when other rooms doors were closed!!! You certainly could hear other rooms doors close. Hangers were missing (very few) and there is no proper wardrobe - a sort of stand for you to hang only.
TV size was good enough. Housekeeping was done ok. There is a coffee making machine too with 4 coffee capsules - nice touch.
Shower:
The water temperature is very irregular. VERY HOT to VERY COLD to the temperature that you set. It goes on in this cycle through every shower. Quite a waste of water as i could only use it at the temperature that was set. Else will be scalded or freeze. So, shower was not great for me.....i time i really reallish having.
Location:
Pretty near the main train station and a little walk brings one down to the shops, scattered eateries and market. Good.
Think my main issue was that the room was very "plastic" and the shower was not good - thought these are basics for a hotel aside from being clean. Did not like the feel of it all over the room and walking with "plastic:" feel.......having paid so much for a room, hence the rating.
