Hotel is easily accessible for those arriving by train or by car, with hotel parking available for 12 euros/day, and is well-located to the city centre and main sites of interest. Check-in was efficient and we were provided with map and information on the Semana Santa processions for which Cartagena is renowned. Our large room with balcony was well-furnished and comfortable. Despite relaxation generally of covid restrictions, the hotel still operated a request system for breakfast, which presented a few difficulties due to our lack of Spanish. Quality and quantity of food was good, with a range of hot and cold options, and its popularity was evident from the number of non-residents walking in. All considered, the hotel represents a sound choice at a decent price for a visit to Cartagena.…
Walked to our hotel stopping for lunch at Restaurante Los Habaneros in a hotel by the same name. I had Bocadillo de Pollo (fried chicken sandwich) and my spouse had Fish & chips. Both very taste and service prompt.
Driving in to Cartagena, it was so easy to get to this hotel, and yet it was only a short walk away from the places I wanted to visit; and early Saturday afternoon, I was able to park right in front for free until Monday morning. The room I was given was great: it was on the top floor and had a large balcony to the front of the building, giving great views over the city. Although it was maybe a little tired, it was comfortably furnished with a large bathroom (and a jacuzzi). There is a more formal restaurant as well as a cafe attached to the hotel. Breakfasts were served in the cafe and there was no buffet due to covid prevention measures, but food was good and portions reasonable. Residents in the hotel got a discount on dinner in the cafe, which was exceptionally good value.
This hotel needs some money spent on it to bring it up to modern standards even for a 3 star. The restaurant is very nice and modern and has had money spent on it but the rooms have not had any upgrade in a long time. The staff were lovely especially in the restaurant and the food was very enjoyable. However, We could not understand why we were given disposable plates, cutlery and cups for the 4 breakfasts we were there when some others were given proper items during the same meal. The rooms were really old fashioned and quite dark. There were almost no electrical sockets so we had to unplug the room phone next to our bed for charging mobiles. The beds were poor quality with mattresses as hard as boards and very uncomfortable. Old sheets and blankets, not duvets. No waste paper bin in bedroom, only 1 in the bathroom. Wall light shade very stained with water marks. We were only given a small water bottle each on our first day and had to buy our own big one for 3 people. The bathrooms were clean but unhygienic with black mould on both bathroom ceilings due to zero ventilation or extractor fans. Big cracks in the walls, ceilings and tiles. Toilet seat needed replacing as there was a section that had peeled off, this is very unsanitary. There is a problem with the plumbing as the bathroom emitted sewage/drain smells the whole time we were there. Another unsafe issue was that there was an electrical socket of some type with a loose cover hanging sideways by one screw so we could see the wires beneath…
The location of this hotel is superb. Very close to the train and bus stations and the most famous monuments. Hotel room a bit dated, large bathroom, fridge available. But there is no kettle or cups to make yourself a cup of coffee or tea. The breakfast was good. We only stayed one night at the hotel so overall we have nothing to complain about.
We highly recommend this hotel and it’s staff. We enjoyed a 5th floor room with roof terrace which gave wonderful rooftop views of old Cartagena. Our room was clean and comfortable. All staff were very courteous and helpful. This was an ideal base from which to explore Cartagena on foot.
Central location to the city. Restaurants within walking distance. Cheap hotel. Good breakfast. Original Spanish. Friendly staff. Inhouse bar and restaurant. I will continue to prefer this hotel in the future.
The location is excellent and the public areas are nice. The room we were in however was depressing. We booked a double bed, which consisted of two single beds pushed together with seperate bedding. This meant the light switches and plug socket were directly behind my husband's head (where the bedside cabinet would normally be), which led to him accidently switching the light on during the night. There was also only one bedside cabinet. The bathroom was tired and the 'grouting' around the bath looked like cement smeared around the edges. There was mould on the ceiling. The only toiletry supplied was shampoo. We were there for such a short time that we didn't complain. I hate to leave negative reviews at this time, but think it's important that people know what they're going to get. On a positive note the staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable.…
Superior room was spacoius but in need of updating, outside terrace spacious but furniture very tired and no shade which was needed as it was summer...jacuzzi bath in this room was difficult to get in and out, slipoery with no hand rails, access hard for elderly or infirm and this is also the shower too..... Hotel bar serves great coffee, didn't eat there, nice outside space
We had a very good room, 128. Certainly nice when you have street view from the balcony. Room was very clean and the people were kind. It’s a 10 minute walk to the centre where you have a lot of dine possibilities! No complaints
