A small (boutique?) hotel that is in easy walking distance to Parque de El Retiro. So while not in Centro Madrid a very convenient location. The rooms were nice but we had a strange room on the top floor. No windows, only sky lights. We didn't mind as we do not spend much time in the room except to sleep....

Lovely location on a quiet street but still in the centre. Plenty of restaurants around. Polite and helpful staff and breakfast to good standard. There's parking at the hotel too which is a plus. Overall a great stay, would recommend to anyone.

Located in the Posh Salamanca district, AC recoletos is well situated and modern boutique hotel. The rooms are contemporary and well kept with a fantastic morning breakfast buffet. When in madrid do not hesitate to consider Recoletos. Tip, use their cab service to get to the airport and try to stay in the 4th floor.

I was recently in Madrid for two days leisure and two days business. This hotel covered my business time. Here's what I liked: - Location. It's near downtown, and really close to everything. - Modern. They've re-designed the rooms. They're a bit funky. - Clean. And toiletries of all types. We're talking dental kits, slippers, etc.. Here's what I didn't...

In a quiet part of the upscale Salamanca district, the hotel is situated on a street with several nice restaurants, and two blocks from some of the nicest ones in town. Easy access to the Metro, which is cheap and trains come every 2 minutes or so, so very convenient. Quiet rooms, windows you can open, very comfortable in November...

We stayed 3 nights at the AC Hotel Recoletos. The location was very good - walking distance to all the sites and surrounded by very good restaurants. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere on walking in was so so - just not our style. The rooms were on the smaller side but clean and comfortable. The hotel...

The location itself is great as its near many tourist related sights and walking distance to many shopping areas. Also near a number of each to reach restaurants. The staff were very helpful and nice and answered all our questions in a very friendly way. However, when comparing this to other higher end Marriott hotels I have visited, the amenities...

This was suppose to be a 2 week tour of Madrid and Portugal. We were having a great time, the hotel room was spacious and recently updated. It was furnished with a king size bed, a large bath area with very nice towels and toiletries. The hotel staff was very friendly and most spoke English as well as several other...

This was the first time we were staying in an AC Hotel and it's a nicely located city hotel. The rooms had a fair size and were modernly equipped. The Location is fantastic, the Hotel is directly in the Salamanca district, which is beautiful and Parque Retiro is around the corner. The gym lacked a little bit of equipment and...

We stayed at the AC Hotel Ricoletos for 3 nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the public area was attractive. The Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, but the most important feature of the Hotel was the LOCATION! We were close to everything and walking distance to the Prado. The area has lots of restaurants and shopping nearby....

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
