The hotel's location is superb!!! Walking distance to many attractions and yet, relatively quiet. During our 6 nights stay, we did not use public transportation or taxis (expect once) to tour around the city. Many restaurants options around the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms are descent in size and clean. We were missing they room kettle...

The hotel was okay. Rooms were nice, newly renovated, but nothing spectacular except for the location. It was off of Calle de Serrano. A perfect street for shopping. Around the corner from the Parque de El Retiro. We loved it because it was walking distance to all we wanted to see, but off of the typical tourist path.

This hotel is incredibly well located, just minutes from Retiro and Banco de Espana. The rooms were very smart and my Queen bed was very comfortable! Staff were very polite and attentive. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

Highly recommend this hotel. The staff was extremely accommodating, especially Beatrit! She was so nice to us. We got a room upon arrival after our long overnight flight. She helped us in every possible way with a smile for 3 days. Location of this hotel is perfect. Walking distance to everything. We did take a cab to old Madrid a...

This hotel offers understated luxurious environment. Excellent and cordial service. Close to many points of interest in Madrid. We stayed there last year and this year on our way to Andalusia. We are returning for another week stay. Loved it!

My wife and I have stayed here many, many times, and in fact when in Madrid we only choose another hotel if this one is completely full. I know, I shoud delete that sentence and start again, otherwise it will always be full and there will be no room for us, but that is a risk we will have to...

I had stayed at a five-star AC Hotel in Madrid a few years ago. I remembered it being close to El Retiro so when booking, I ended up booking the Recoletos property. Only when driving up did I realize my mistake! Well - it was a blessing in disguise! Though a four-star, I found the Desk staff to be extremely...

My mother and I stayed here after and whirlwind and exhausting tour of Morocco. We were very much looking forward to the comfortable rest after such a trip. I was able to check in online and so when we arrived, the desk clerk knew (guessed?) my name right away and we had are keys in seconds. She was very pleasant....

This was our first trip to Spain. Our daughter who lives in Madrid recommended this hotel as it is centrally located which made getting where we needed to be relatively easy. Located on a couple of blocks from the largest park in Madrid, we also had an easy landmark to keep our bearings straight.

LIke other reviewers, I found it to be noisy and sleep disturbing. The maid cart started its rounds at 8am making noise in the hallway. The room was stark, the hallways dim. No charm for such a nice city. No coffee maker in the room. Even though I am highest Marriot level, there was no free breakfast. We took advantage...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
