We are having a great stay. Unfortunately got to leave Madrid tomorrow. The studio is very clean, modern, good wifi, ac and of course best location to walk everywhere. The owner Juan is really friendly and helpfull. The apartment is on 4th floor but building has a lift

Large apartment which was exceptionally well equipped. Spotlessly clean. Juan the owner was very welcoming and helpful. Great position right in the center of the city but the street itself was very quiet.

What more could we ask for, just back from 4 nights in Madrid and we stayed at these apartments. The apartments are clean and comfortable and have a well equipped kitchen. On top of it all, Juan, who managed our booking and received us was great, giving lot's of advice and available for anything needed during the stay. The cherry...

This is a great apartment and a great location, between Gran Via and Puerta del Sol with just minutes to reach each. We expected noise problems but experienced none at all. The lady who checked us in and Juan, the manager are very friendly. The only negative is that our arrival was confusing. The door to the building was closed...

We stayed in this apartment for several days. The apartment was a bit dark, but our host was very friendly. The street was very dirty and noisy. The restaurant in the street, recommended by our host, had the worst paella I have ever had. Overcooked and tasteless. The apartment was very well located, but we found Madrid disappointing.

Many things included in this self-catered apartment: drip coffee maker, dish soap, even a little sugar for coffee and a drying rack for clothes. WiFI a little quirky, tiny wastebaskets, beds a bit hard, sitting space limited in the studio option. Very safe & convenient location. Yes, prostitutes at the plaza at one end of the street but they each...

Yes there are "streetwalkers" at one end of the block, but they leave you alone. Remember, you are in a very large city. There are streetwalkers all over New York!! This is our second stay with Juan in 4 years. My wife and I stayed a week in one of the larger units, a one bedroom with living room (previously...

Clean apartment in central Madrid. All main sights can be reached on foot with apartment located very close to Gran Via. Notwithstanding central location the apartment is located on a very quite street. The environment appeared safe both during the day and at night. Juan was very welcoming and despite language barrier managed to see to all our requests. The...

The other reviews touch on the facts that the Caballero de Gracia apartments are very central, the beginning of the street is street walkers’ prowling area and that the apartments are pretty OK – that is if you are getting what you thought you had booked. We booked through Booking.com and being Finnish we get their website texts in Finnish....

The appartment's building is located near the city center, about two minutes walk to the nearest metro station. I want to note very friendly apartment's owner Juan, and although he spoke English very little, he left a very good impression. The apartments do not have the reception desk, you have the room and external doors keys.On the ground floor there...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
