I have stayed several times at this Hostel and would recommend it to anyone. It is very convenient to the Museums, train station, Metro. The Express bus from the Airport €5, will take you to either Cibeles or Atocha train station. Both are a 10min walk to the Hostel. There are many affordable and good restaurants in the vicinity, all...

Although the location is good, it is the loudest place I've ever stayed in. They basically converted a large condo into a bed & breakfast, so that you are hearing pretty much everything that is going on in the rooms. On top of that, people go in and out at pretty much anytime of the day, shattering the door in...

I have stayed here twice this year. It's more of a guest house than a hostal really. The place is affordable, friendly and very clean. It's also central to all the famous attractions of Madrid. There were no tea and coffee making facilities but right outside the doors there is a lovely area with several cafes and bars with inside...

Hostal Bruna, Madrid We arrived in Madrid via train and I booked the Hostal Bruna because it was close to train station. It was about a 10 minute walk. We had a little trouble finding it because there is no big sign showing its location. The rooms are quite large and have bathrooms. The floors and walls all have beautiful...

This family run place is perfect if you are travelling by yourself and want a clean, safe place to stay. I asked for a quiet room and was tucked inside the building, so I slept well. It is very clean and comfortable. Only a 5 min walk from the main train station Atoche and across from the Prado museum. Would...

This place is safe for a solo traveler. It is across from a small police station in Martinez plaza and police are stationed outside. The area is across from the Prado. It is less than 10 min walk to the Cibeles fountain. It is about 15 min walk from the Atoche train station. Including the the traffic lights. It is...

My friend and I decided at last minute to spend a few days in Spain during holy week, a time of big religious celebrations all over Spain. It was seeming difficult to find accommodations but finally we found Hostal Bruna. It was pretty much a shot in the dark and we were ready for the worst. But was a great...

15Minute Plaza Mayor,...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
