In the pedestrian area right off Plaza Major. Plenty of people around for late night returns. Breakfast ample and varied. And you can linger as long as you want. Lap top in every room. Nice big rooms with jet stream showers. All in all great experience. Reception area a little shoddy otherwise an excellent but the rooms divine.

I travel a lot in Europe and around the world. I absolutely HATE booking into a hotel claiming to be a four star when really it is a three star, it is a very unpleasant surprise on arrival. I am starting my review by telling you that this is a THREE star hotel, not a FOUR star hotel as advertised....

We are very fond of typical less expensive European pensions with few amenities and little space, but we reserved a stay at this Petit Palace because we needed space for four people. We were able to have all four in a single room, whereas we would have needed two rooms at many other locations, so we were willing to pay...

Our family of four had a great stay, we were in a quadruple with plenty of space! I would definetely stay here again. You can book this hotel with no worries! I did not have breakfast at the hotel because we wanted to taste different places and food. Have a great time in Madrid!

The Petit Palace chain's Posada del Peine hotel is beside Madrid's ultra-popular Plaza Mayor square. This puts you at the cross-roads of the heart of Madrid, particularly as a tourist looking to discover the best active neighborhoods which radiate in all directions from this hotel. Well located, close to Plaza Major and within easy walking distance of most of Madrid's attractions. Rooms (ours) small but well equipped. Requests for blanket, towels etc dealt with promptly and efficiently. Good security, excellent breakfast with fresh fruit and much else.

The hotel is located on the main the hub of Madrid. You’re so close to Plaza Mayor & Puerta Del Sol which gives you plenty of options to go anywhere by walking or public transportation. GREAT LOCATION!!! The façade of the hotel is very nice. My room (415) is decent. I don’t complain much about the room size. Small rooms...

Nice hotel in a great location but I'm in a triple room where the ceiling is sloping so low that we are in danger of banging heads and breaking necks.

I decided to stay at the Posada del Peine as the location could not be better and it has so much history.I was not wrong, what a great feeling to open the door of the Hotel and see the Plaza Mayor. We were given a terrible room in the Attic, black ceiling, very claustrophobic and difficult to move around. The...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
