So excited about this hostel! Big, clean room, nice bed and clean sheets and towels. Even in the middle of the summer, its not hot in the room. The toilets are clean and the showers are heaven! The housekeeper is the most friendly guy, willing to help with whatever you need! I would recommend this to everyone!

I highly recommend this hostel! The location is just perfect. My friend and I could walk everywhere from the hostel. The owner was so nice, he always wanted to help us if we had questions on how to get somewhere or where to do something. If I ever go back to Madrid I would totally come to this hostel again!!

This could be a really good hostel. It's clean, and in a great location. The managers (owners?) are an older couple who seem very uptight. I am a well-travelled mature semi-retired woman, and I felt that the owners think that backpackers, including me (meaning that I don't usually cop any flack as a potential undesireable) are some type of unsavoury...

This place its in a really good position in the close to the center of Madrid. The rooms are not so big but its really quiet and comfortable. I recommend this place if you are looking for a cheap place close to the center.

Location was excellent (5min walk to gran via and 15 min walk to plaza mayor) but rooms where really noisy (you could hear parties and the cleaning of the streets until 5am) and the bed was very old... It was really hard to get a good night sleep.

I came here to escape the "feria" in my town and to see a new city. Madrid doesn't disappoint! The hostel itself is great but I found it difficult to find at first. Not in terms of location. The street was really easy to find (just up the street from Gran via metro station) It's that the hostel is part...

I was travelling to Madrid only for two days, so I needed some place to stay for several nights. I was pleasantly surprised to find it is located in the heart of the city though in quiet area, everything is nearby- shops, Via Grande, places of sightseeing...lots of nice cafes and bars. The hostel itself is clean, comfortable, rooms are...

I would like to share my experience of staying in this nice and cosy hostel. I was travelling alone and stayed for two days in Madrid. I was pretty exausted after 2 weeks of joyrneys before that, so when I finally got here I was warmly welcomed by Hector, who is very friendly and hospitable. The rooms are clean and...

We booked this place initially just for one night when we arrived in Madrid and ended up staying for 10 nights. It's in a great location, right near Grand Via station (3 min walk) and has loads of bars and clubs around. The staff are really friendly and laid back. We booked a double room with shared bathroom and ended...

I spent two nights in Hostal Miralva and was satisfied with the overall experience. I don't think you can beat the price (13 euro/night, staying in a six-bed dorm) and location (4 minute walk from Gran Via metro stop) combination. Service was good, lodging was comfortable but obviously nothing to write home about, and the bathrooms were clean. I would...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
