In a pinch and during a heavy season for Madrid, there weren't other hotels available at the time. We booked this hotel as a last resort and had a wonderful time. Its not a luxury hotel, but the rooms were well kept, clean and everyone on staff was very pleasant to speak to. Their English was very good and knew all the answers to our questions-especially about the area. Being used to staying in a more central location, it wasn't difficult to get around to/from the hotel--which was my main concern. The breakfast wasn't something to write home about, but cheap and good to fill up on before a long day out.

Family of four adults split between 2 rooms (double and twin) over Level 2 and Level 4. Positives: - Location was in close proximity to some of Madrid’s best tourist attractions. It was also a short walk from the metro and had great restaurants in the laneways nearby. - TV facilities were offered - Good water pressure in showers Negatives: - Hotel facade was underwhelming - Room numbering was inconsistent and confusing for guests on arrival - Lift space was too small for guests with luggage and lifts were out of level with every floor created a tripping hazard - Level 4 room allocation was difficult as room access requires guests to negotiate flight of 6 stairs through a fire door with luggage - For a non-smoking hotel, the Level 2 corridor, room and bedding smelt like an ashtray despite clear signs throughout prohibiting smoking within the hotel - Ineffective sewage system created a perpetual backwash of faecal matter that did not belong to our party - During the night and early morning, all sanitary movement was audible through the paper thin walls and ceilings of bedrooms - The beds and bedding linen were in desperate need of replacement and upgrading and TV did not work in Level 4 room - Shower cubicle requires replacement as it was too small for the average adult - Level 4 room had a mezzanine level with stone spiral staircase and railing that was not secured in place. Poor design requiring guests to use this staircase to access bathroom facilities. - Staff unpleasant and disinterested - Breakfast not included in room rate (additional charge 6,50 euro pp), poor selection and particularly disappointing coffee In summary, very disappointing overall. Would not recommend until vast improvements are made.

I stayed here as a part of a group tour. The location of the hotel is not the best. It's not central and not close to sights most tourists would want to visit. It is however close to a very nice park and shopping mall. I got the accessible room (110) which was actually pretty spacious. The bed and pillows were the most uncomfortable I have slept on in a very very long time. Initially I couldn't fall asleep because I couldn't get comfortable. Then I woke up in the middle of night because I was so uncomfortable. Room 110 faces the street and while street noises was definitely a problem, there was a lot of noise coming from inside the hotels too. I could hear people coughing, chairs moving etc. One of the positives of the hotel was that it is very clean. The pillow and the sheets all smelled clean and fresh. Breakfast was not included and costs 6.50 euros each. It's just passable if you're don't want to go out for breakfast. Their coffee was so bad that our tour guide made a point to get his coffee at the train station. All in all the Gran Legazpi is cheap and clean but I would not recommend it based on the location, bed quality and noise level.
