The Eurostars Plaza Mayor is located in the buildings that formerly housed the famous Fronton Madrid (sports arena); two buildings of seven floors each which contain 92 excellent, design rooms fitted with the latest technology and decorated with fine materials such as genuine stonework and ceramic mosaic tiles. One of our biggest surprise is the breakfast room, located on the seventh floor, from where a delightful panoramic view of Madrid rooftops can be enjoyed. There is also a romantic, outdoor terrace.

Stayed one night to visit the old city. Misinformation given at check in by receptionist, advising of free guided tour of the old city @5pm. This we found not to be the case, nothing in English until the next day, when we were due to leave. Poor start, and to top that there was building work in the bar, restaurant and lounge areas, none were available. Dusty entrance and lift. Cold corridors, and thermostat in room did not work. Big bathroom, small shower, basin etc,a refurb on a budget! Poor view, inspite of other rooms being available,we were allocated at the the back with a noisy neighbour, every toilet flush could be heard...!! Average breakfast, awful coffee. Best bit the location to the old city, but no restaurants / bars around the hotel open. All in all disappointing, nothing offered in way of an apology, they even tried to charge us double for the parking..... Look out when checking out!!!

A very reasonably priced, clean and comfortable hotel. Walking in after dealing with the stresses of the city was always a relief. The staff was friendly and very professional. Helena was particularly gracious and welcoming.

Left today, arrived on Friday for the weekend. Im English. The place is in a great location and the rooms are of a good, modern, clean, standard. (average for the money). I had a slightly mixed experience. The check in was... average. Took forever, i didn't find anything out and i felt like i was a foreigner. Checking out made me think - "Yeah! - that's was what a check in/out experience should be like!" The check out was so friendly that i was charmed and asked them questions. The check in was so frosty that i just wanted it to end and get to my room. I didn't know there was a bar in the place till i left, Id have definitely had at least one drink a day if id have known that, plus id have been lots happier overall knowing that i could always head back for a drink at the end of the evening.

I’ve stayed at this hotel last weekend with my family and I left my headphones charging in the room. Those headphones were “lost” (the charger was in its place) and the hotel did not provide any help at all, on the contrary they were extremely rude and unhelpful. On top of that, at the lobby I was told that nobody would risk a job for some headphones. I am an experience traveller as you can check on my tripadvisor profile and this is the first time that something like this happens to me. My advise would be to not stay in this plase, but if you do so, please watch out for your belongings once you leave the room, because they might “disappear” and you will not receive any help at all.

Photos online are a bit deceptive - the room was tiny, just about enough room to walk around without walking into something. WiFi wasn't great, perhaps it was just my room though. Breakfast buffet was fine, I'll give them that. What might be a little offputting is that the top of the street seems to be where dozens of homeless congregate, so maybe for the solo traveller, be a little careful.
