My colleague booked two serviced apartments here due to the nice pictures she saw on their website. DO NOT TRUST THOSE PICTURES, the actual rooms are REALLY OLD. The kitchen was tiny and almost bare, I think we had one or two spoons, and a few dirty old cups. The toilet was dark (even with the light on) with poor...

These apartments are located in the posh Salmanca suburb of Madrid, within a walking distance from the Prado and many more tourists attractions. I happened to stay in 2 of them and they consist of a bedroom, with a bathroom, and a lounge that includes a kitchenette. The furniture is basic and serves its purpose

1. Blood-sucking bedbugs (chinches de cama): on the 1st night of our stay I was severely bitten by bedbugs and developed hard consequences: swollen face, hands, arms, almost closed eye due to hard swell, as these insects happened to live in our bed. I suffered both physically and morally for many days afterwards. Thanks God they didn't attack my 6-year-old...

Very basic rooms, non english speaking staff, had to pay up front which was a minor nuisance. Internet access not free (9euro per day) , but i guess its budget accommodation on tight margins. A good bed, and a hot shower, the decor is getting old and tired. But it is in a good location, with some good restaurants and...

Just look at the photos and do not go there! A tinny apartment with real bad maintenance, broken closet, entrance door, noisy, etc. And on top of that they charge 3 euros per day for internet and it doesn't work. They recon their problem. I had to change to another hotel The floor was dirty

I had to stay here 1 night since I could not extend my stay for 1 night at the first hotel in Madrid. Staff was friendly by all means in this hotel but there were several things with this refurnished hotel that I could not appriciate. I got a room that was something like a half marathon away from the...

Horrible experience! The room was the smallest I have ever been in necessitating in an under-sized bed that my feet hung-off and I am not tall. The bathroom so small that the sink is in the room next to the bed. You also have to close the curtain making it even more of a cave because people were watching us...

I do not really understand the bad critics/photos. I stayed here with my parents just one night and we found a normal apartment with everything clean: bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen. The apartment was quite modern and nothing to see with the photos uploaded, it is a pity I do not take photos. I only had the possibility to...

We were assigned a room straight out of a 1970's movie. Ancient fixtures, rusty stove, and tacky decorations. While some of this is excusable, the fact that the furniture and drapes were dirty and dusty make staying here an oddysey. Location is great but i believe i could have found a hotel with similar pricing, and better quality. Smaller rooms...

It is a budget apart hotel, but your money is worth more. The beds are terrible one could realy feel the mattress coils under a thin slice of foam. The air condition did not work and there was an instructions that it would operate only for a certain time during the day, tha means do not try it and during...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
