Nice clean hotel in a great central location. A two minute walk to Sol Square. Good choice of food I. The continental style breakfast. Rooms cleaned daily and very helpful reception staff. Shame there are no tea making facilities in the rooms. Parking is very close by but very expensive , you can get a discount voucher from the hotel which helps.
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and excellent location for enjoying the Center of Madrid. The breakfast could do with a bit more choice but it is good nonetheless. The hotel is excellently located, easily accessible to public transport. We spent 3 nights here on BB basis and it was great value for money. Highly recommended for a short visit.
Location was great and easy to walk to. Room was not ready and had to leave the luggage for almost 3 hours. When e retuned to our room to unpack, the camera was missing from one of our bags. It was useless to even talk to them about it as I was constantly being told to look again. We specifically asked for a quiet room and informed it 2 times and yet we were in a room facing a BAR/RESTAURANT which was loud and playing music well after 1pm. The beds were quite hard and there was no kettle for tea in the room. T
We arrived late and reception was in the dark, not welcoming and neither was the front desk. Room was functional but beds were hard and like sleeping on a rock. Breakfast was awful and looked like it had been sitting there for days. I've been to many good hotels in Madrid but this isn't one of them.
You can pay a lot more and stay in a trendier place. But if you're interested in good value, good location, and a spacious and comfortable room at a decent price, this is a very good choice. Admittedly, when we went out the first night I wish i'd booked a hotel in the midst of the trendy restaurant area. But that area was only a 5-minute walk, and II Castillas was very strategically located for a variety of places we wanted to walk to, not just restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and tasteful, if plain. The bath was great, plenty of light, which is high on my priority list! The breakfast was sufficient -- I've certainly had better, but this had everything I needed, and fulfilled my usual expectation of variety in European breakfasts. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel every day, but I certainly would have been happy to. If I returned to Madrid at a very slow time of year, I'd probably try to book sometime fancier at an off-season rate. But if we go back at a busy time, I'd head right back to this place. We enjoyed it.…
