We were completely satisfied with Hotel Mediodia during our four night stay. It provides great value for the money! Our fifth floor room was clean and larger than expected. We slept like babies in the comfortable bed. Might have been the jet lag, wine or miles we walked sightseeing, but the little bit of road noise didn’t keep us awake....

We knew nothing about the hotel and booked it on its price and central location. The room on the 5th floor had a balcony overlooking the Reina Sofia museum and the square below, it is an easy walk from here to the botanic gardens and the Prado museum. Opposite the hotel is the Atocha railway station so this is a...

This is a very convenient Hotel located right in front of the Train Station. You can go even walking from this Hotel to the Train Station. Lobby's decoration is bit classic. Friendly Staff. My room was very clean.

I had passed Mediodia many times when walking the Puerta de Atocha. So glad I decided to stay. It is literally a few minutes from the train station. My room was on the fifth floor - when I opened the shutters on the window, a great surprise: the plaza on which the Museo Reina Sofia and the National Conservatory of...

To be fair I would have given this 3.5 but it isn't really worth a 4. We had a one night stopover having flown in but not collecting the car until the next day. The hotel is an easy train ride from the airport - about 20 minutes and €2,60. From the main station (with ponds, turtles and a garden!)...

You take pot luck on room size and amenities, but the Hotel Mediodia can't be beat on price or location. A/C and Wi-Fi can be whimsical, but the staff is general efficient and accomodating to the wide variety of budget guests the hotel attracts. All in all, a nice bargain.

This was my first point of call on my Camino trip. I just needed a place to stay for a night. I wasn't impressed with the hotel. For the cost, it was run down with poor service. I was particularly disappointed in the breakfast. I got better breakfasts from albergue's later on my trip.

Hotel Mediodia is still the best bet for a good night's stay near Atocha Railway Station and the 24 hr yellow bus to and from the airport. Well-priced and unpretentious, it's very good value for such a central location. The rooms are clean though basic and the bathroom is surprisingly large with a bidet that many hotels of this class...

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
