This was my first point of call on my Camino trip. I just needed a place to stay for a night. I wasn't impressed with the hotel. For the cost, it was run down with poor service. I was particularly disappointed in the breakfast. I got better breakfasts from albergue's later on my trip.

The hotel was across from the renfre train station, easy access , close to the Prado and restaurants. There's a bus that will take you from the airport from Terminal 4,2, and 1 Will cost 5€ each person look for the yellow bus outside . The room was clean but no toiletries except for small bar of soap, you can hear...

Hotel Mediodia is still the best bet for a good night's stay near Atocha Railway Station and the 24 hr yellow bus to and from the airport. Well-priced and unpretentious, it's very good value for such a central location. The rooms are clean though basic and the bathroom is surprisingly large with a bidet that many hotels of this class...

We spent two nights at the Hotel Mediodia after arriving in Madrid following a flight from Australia. The hotel was chosen because of its proximity to the Atocha public transport hub. The metro transport brings you to Atocha direct from the airport on a regular schedule for a couple of euro and then a short walk out of the station...

Stayed here for 3 nights. I'll start with the negatives. Asked for an early check in. Didn't get it. Booked a double room. Didn't get it. Got 2 singles pushed together. Wifi was poor and the air con rattled. On a positive note it was really clean and the location was great for exploring Madrid. I'd stay here again purely...

Upon arrival at Atocha station, you could see the hotel in the distance so 5 minutes later we had checked in. Although the rooms aren't big and sparsely decorated, they were spotlessly clean and beds comfortable. We had a room overlooking the square by the Reina Sofia museum with a nice little balcony. The air conditioning was excellent. Bathroom was...

This is a great hotel offering a fantastic location close to the main Railway station for a really great price. The room was compact but large enough for the 2 of us and our luggage. The room was very clean and comfortable. Air-conditioning worked very well. Many bars and restaurants in the immediate area. Easy walk to the major museums...

Directly opposite Madrid Atocha main train station which worked well for us as we came in from Seville and out to Barcelona. The hotel is old and externally well looked after. We stayed here for 5 nights and were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Although basic, the room was very clean and comfortable...great pillow and the shower strong. Perfect location. The people who are working there are very friendly. The people at the desk do speak English (which is nice and what we expect but most of the people do not speak English in Madrid). The room was very small but had everything what I needed. Clean. Slept well.

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
