I am a travel-light traveler and find this hotel is perfect for me. It just take six minutes walk from Plaza Mayo metro exit to the hostal. The hostal is located on the side street and very easy to find it. All the rooms seem away from street and are very quiet. The room looks out of dated but a... More

Location was one of the best ones I've had when travelling through Europe, walkable to all the attractions and sights. Stay was in a very cute and quaint place, lots of colours I recall which helped bring some life into the rooms. The only downfall to our 2 nights spent here was that the wifi was very poor. I had... the staff were friendly, but very disorganized. The room was very dated and smelled faintly of cigarettes. They really should get new bedding. We also did NOT have wifi in our room, which was pretty frustrating. Overall the room was adequate and in a good location, but not what I expected.

I was in Madrid last year for summer and stayed here, great hotel, with AC and great location. The staff was very kind! We had an excellent experience as the hostal was located in the middle of Madrid where we could easily reach the most important landmarks!

I knew what I ordered so that´s what I got. Small hostel, noisy, but I dont mind it, that´s why I go to Madrid. Rooms are nothing special and not impeccably cleaned (shower curtain is of fabric and the soap container filthy) but it´s ok.

Room was small but clean. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. Towels were changed everyday. Very close to puerto del sol. Lots of restaurants to eat out. The only downside is noise at night. Not an issue if you are the type that stays out late. Wi-fi was excellent.

Located just five minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol (now also called Sol Vodafone). Narrow street has several bars & restaurants. Less than a ten minute walk to the Plaza Mayor and the large "El Corte Ingles" department store. On the third floor, meaning you must walk up 4 flights of stairs. No elevator, so not for senior citizens... More

Fab location for exploring a fab city. The owners were more than helpful and welcoming on arrival... It felt a bit like a family by the end of the week! The accommodation was clean, homely and affordable. It's 'bog standard', but perfect if you're just looking for a base that'll you feel safe and warm in after a hard days... More

Small, but very nice and clean room. Located on a noisy street, the hotel is on the second floor of the building. The Staff is kind and helpful. Perfect place to stay for the visit of Madrid. The WiFi connection is poor in some rooms.

Located on a noisy nighttime street we found this place clean and comfortable. Located right off plaza Santa Anna we found we could walk to anywhere with ease then come back to the plaza for drinks or tapas. We had a nice large double bed and a small balcony with a clean private bath. The only downsides were the noise... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
