I stayed at hostal abadia for 2 nights during my stay in madrid in august 2016. My room was clean, had a balcony with great view and a very new bathroom. The hostal is located in the centre of madrid, you could easily walk to the palace, the gran via or the prado museum. The next metro station is anton...

Good things: Great location Good shower Clean room Good price Not so good things: Safe not attached to the wall, anyone could walk away with it. My dad had to pay 1€ every time he opened his. My room was nice, but my dads was small, dark with a bag smell. Very slow check-in

Well located close to Sol and La Latina, easy to find, perfectly clean and well priced. Just what you need for a city break. The air con wasn't the strongest system I've come across but it did the job when left on long enough. Perfect for a city break with friends

What a find in the middle of Madrid! The staff were super friendly and helpful. We got two rooms for the four of us. I recommend the one facing the street tather the the one looking into the courtyard. Both rooms had everything we nerding including a newish bathroom. Breakfast downstairs was ok at De Martin for Euro 4. On...

Recently stayed for 4 nights easy walking distance between 2 metro stations - anton martin and tirso de molina. Stayed in room 7 on the 3rd floor. My only criticism was the room was quite dark. The decor was brown and the window was small which left the room to be dull. So glad there was air conditioning in the...

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and were spot on on their tourist recommendations. The room was great everything worked perfectly including the WIFI. I have stayed at many hotels that list free WIFI but it turns out to be at snail pace which can be upgraded at cost. The WIFI here was at a decent speed. The room was...

We stayed at the Hostal for 3 nights while visiting Madrid. It is conveniently located in walking distance to the most important sights and half way between the Palacio Real and the Prado. Our room was small, but clean and equipped with everything necessary. The staff was nice and helpful, e.g. giving us tips or ordering taxis. One of the...

We booked a double - but there was actually 4 beds and a nice bathroom. The price was very reasonable and we could easily have been 4 people there. Good basic service, clean and very practical location. From here you can walk to everything. Breakfast is in nearby bar. Go a few blocks more and find the locals.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
