Just about to check out and very pleased with our stay here. It is a small hostal on the 2nd and 3rd floor of an older building. We are staying in room 314. The room is spotless, with the sheets and towels cleaned daily. We have a window facing a courtyard, not the street, so we have been sleeping well...

We choose this hotel for its location and price and we were not disappointed. Rooms were spacious and clean, but the location is unbeatable, in between the Tribunal and Bilbao metro stations, and in walking distance of numerous bars and restaurant and also in comfortable walking distance of the Chueca neighborhood and Grand Via shopping. Good value for money, too....

We stayed in this Hostal for 4 nights in early Oct. It's located 2 mins walk from Tribunal metro and in the perfect location for exploring Madrid on foot. We only used the Metro to get in and out of the Airport. If you like to explore on foot this is a great option, everywhere is within easy reach -...

Stayed in Hostal Sil & Serranos for 3 nights on a recent trip to Spain. Centrally located with many shops, local bars and cafes in walking distance. The superb Madrid Metro has the stop Tribunal only 100 metres away for the times you prefer not to walk. The room was clean, small rooms and bathroom, the shower over the small bath...

The hostal has a 24 hours reception, which is definitely a plus. It is very close to great bars and cafés such as Taperia Malasaña, Lolina, La Biciclette, Gorila, Fábrica Maravillas, Aio, among others. Very close to great clubs as well: Tupperware, Penta and Madrid Me Mata.

Great price for comfortable, quiet, SPACIOUS rooms. This 2 star hotel is more akin to a 3 star hotel. Comfortble beds, AC, hot showers, nice staff. Location is fantastic, 10 minute walk to Puerto del Sol, 15-20 minutes to Plaza Mayor. The metro stop, Tribunal, is about 2 minutes from the front door, so you can get ANYWHERE quickly. This...

I stayed in this hostal for 5 nights with two friends and we all thought it was a very good place to stay in: our triple room was big and very clean, so was the bathroom. From the Hostal we could easily walk to the main tourist attractions and the calle Fuencarral is full of every kind of shop you...

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Actually this hotel or hostel is a two hotels with one reception area, called "Sil y Serranos". On the second floor they have their regular rooms which I wouldn't recommend, but for just a few euros more, you can get a "superior" room on the all-new third floor. The rooms are not...

Hostales Sil is for those who want pleasant surroundings and a bit of class without paying for high hotel prices. It's located in an upscale but young-partying area as well as more established local neighborhood places as wel. Close to great nightlife and yet you can turn the corner and find a neat park. The place has internet pc as...

This should have been a review of the Hostal Macarena in Madrid, unfortunately when we arrived they denied having received my fax with the CC details, and the hostal was full. However the very nice owner had room in the Hostal Sil, also owned by him, and drove us there personally. The price was the same but it was about...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
