This hotel is very close to many shops, bars and restaurants on Grand Via and just several minutes walk from the the Plaza. Check in was friendly and efficient and the room was perfectly fine for our 3 night stay. The hotel could probably do with a it of TLC but that is a small point. Our room overlooked the...

Stayed here for 3 nights on an easyJet package, and our room was spacious , clean and looked onto the Gran Via. We had a small kitchen which was more than adequate and a large bathroom. There was a free safe and a mini bar. Towels were changed daily and room was ideal in all aspects The buffet breakfast had...

Second time visiting this hotel. Dead-centre on Gran Via with everything close by. Staff super friendly and always willing to help out even if it needs action outside of their protocol. From here did I initiate my moving to Madrid and if I have visitors needing a hotel this one is my first choice.

The hotel location is excellent. There are stairs to negotiate both to get to the lobby and to get to rooms, so a challenge with luggage and anyone with a disability. Staff is helpful. Room decor is dated but we got an entire apartment with a large bath, a small functional kitchen with pots and pans and dishes, and a...

good service at this hotel, but make sure that the air conditioner is working properly before you unpack. Beds were comfortable, cleanliness, maid service and hotel lobby staff were fantastic. They helped with making day-tour arrangements and getting a taxi, helped with directions, you name it, There was always an English speaking staff person around to answer our questions and...

I stayed in this hotel three times during September and October, it's located in very famous and important, active street where everything is around us. The room is good and the bed is comfortable, and the stuff are very friendly.

The staff was really nice, we've stayed there 2 times in September and both times we got an apartment instead of a regular room at no extra cost. The rooms are OK, clean, at least if you are not looking at the details. The location is great, right in the center, next to the metro. Breakfast average - no veggies...

Really enjoyed the stay here. Beds were comfortable, staff was fluent in English and was knowledgeable with area info getting to train station etc. Appreciate all they did, and the kitchenette is a huge plus where you can make and have quick snacks thanks to the mini fridge for storage.

Hi, I visited this hotel half year ago with my wife and friends. For sure placing of Espahotel is one of the greatest you can have. Central street, three minutes from closest subway station,10 minutes to walk from Royal Palace... Plenty of shopping or restaurants around. We didn't get the breakfast (and didn't use the kitchen utility in our room)...

We opted for staying at this hotel due to its location. It is only 2 min. walk from Metro Station. There are bus stops just in front of it, so you are able to get to many points of interest by bus (Royal Palace, Passeo del Prado, Retiro Park). The rooms are spacious with dedicated area for kitchen utilities. The...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
