Hostal Machin is really an excellent accomodation for its price. I had a private room with shared bath room and can't complain about anything. It is very clean and quite, rooms have a comfortable bed and good furniture. Bathrooms were clean and even if they are shared with other guests I never had trouble finding an available restroom as they...

The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and the lent us a hairdryer and gave us 2 extra carrier bags for all the stuff we had bought. Room 1 has its own shower inside the room and all rooms have aircon and fridge. Cheap and cheerful.

We would recommend not to carry valuable objects with you since our door did not close well. the room was noisy, since walls were extremely thin and we could hear people conversation next door. clean bathrooms. nice and helpful personnel. very good location close to everything.

It is what it says on the tin. Excellent location for central Madrid and the gay/party district. The place is extremely basic but clean. My room was on the top floor, I was a bit surprised that it was windowless - only a small window above the door looking onto the corridor. The corridor itself was overlooking an inner courtyard,...

Great place to stay, clean and simple. The building is a little old, but it's fine. Really nice staff, and great location near Gran via and the subway. We had a great experience! The next time I'll certainly stay there.

I stayed in the hostal Machin from the 18th of August in a private room. It was a fine place to stay, I've stayed in better but I've also stayed in worse places. The location is perfect, less than a minutes walk from the Gran Via metro station. The first time walking down the street I couldn't find the building...

I have stayed at Hostal Machin a number of times, and it never fails to deliver. The hostal is very very central - 2 mins from Gran Via metro station - and is located in a pleasant old-style Madrid apartment building. The first thing you'll notice is how immaculately clean it is kept. It seems all of the rooms have...

I've only stayed there with my boyfriend for one night. This is not definitely the place for people how's looking for party, but no problems for us since we're not really loking for it. The man in the front desk was quite polite, but not really friendly. He explained the hostal rules and explained what we've asked. That was all....

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
