Clean small room reasonable price and a great location to walk the whole central area For quick inexpensive tasty meals try Nostrum around the corner past Macdonalds--they don't speak english but pick a meal microwave it at the back and sit outside and enjoy There is also a large Mercado nearby

The hotel localization the his strongest point, near the subway... 3 minutes on foot to portas do sol and gran via... fantastica! The bedroom was clean and neat, the toilets were renovated and functional, they could be better in some details like decoration but its a great and acessible hotel for those who go to visit the city all day...

After an easy but awful trip on the underground where I caught a chap with his hand in my handbag (beware of pick pockets) we found hotel easily from the underground station, situated just off the Gran Via. Very friendly and helpful staff upon arrival. The hotel was clean & very central for shops, bars and sightseeing. Would definitely visit...

The title pretty much sums it up. The rooms are very, very small. The lobby has a few places to sit, that's about it. There isn't much to this hotel besides the great location (right next to Gran Via, you can google the rest). The price is right for what you get, though.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and the balcony was a great to spend a few hours in the evening. A/C was working well, water pressure was great and the beds were very comfortable. I would definitely return here!

Modern hotel located right in the centre, close to numerous bars and restaurants and within walking distance of most of the attractions. If you are not big on walking you can get on the Metro. The rooms are not huge but are clean and basic with everything you need for a city break. The staff are very friendly and helpful....

We stayed at this hotel 4 days and I just want to say that the service was exellent. The hotel itself is small without any facilities, but the people working in the reception are fabolous and extremely helpful . They can help you with any question you have about Madrid. This hotel is in a superb location close to all the main tourist attractions.in Madrid. Metro is 2 minutes away. The Anaco is very dated and is in desperate need of a refurb. Couldn't get anything to eat and couldn't even get a cup of coffee. Staff were friendly and very apologetic. Ok for one night but wouldn't stay any...

I have stayed in Hotel Anaco around 4 or 5 times (between May 2011 and June 2012). I used to live in the south of Spain so it was in a great location for meeting family in Madrid or as a stopover when travelling to/from the airport. The hotel is quite basic but I have stayed here both on my...

I am now sure where else people have stayed that are giving this hotel 3-5 stars. It is a one star hotel that is in the center of Madrid. The outside had me super worried when I arrived because it looked liked a building that needs condemned. The inside was clean downstairs, but not fancy by any standards. The staff...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
