This time was only one night unfortunately. As always we and our friends would not stay anywhere else in Madrid. It is faultless, great breakfast, and great staff. We cannot wait until our annual visit next February so I think we will go for a few days in the Spring. Tony & Angela Kennedy

We were only in Madrid for one night en route to South America and thought we'd stay somewhere special and pick 'No 1' on Trip Adviser. This normally excellent group of hotels (R&C) uses CC and C as its ethos, but we would give this hotel D, D and D. Disappointing, dated and deserted. The staff were friendly and helpful...

The Hotel Orfila is located in a palazzo with old world charm, and the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and service oriented. The location is on the edge of the Salamanca district (good for shopping and restaurants), tucked into a quiet residential street near many foreign embassies, and an easy walk to all major attractions. The room was large and...

We stayed in Orfila for one week and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean; the service, impeccable and the location, perfect. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood.

This is a small, intimate beautifully presented boutique hotel well placed in the city The staff are all seemingly chosen for their smile. They are exceptionally attentive by any 5 star standard. The junior suite we had was large. Lovely sitting room. Bathroom is large and well finished in the classic decorating style Beds are good and are even the...

Hotel Orfila is a jewel! Located walking distance from the Prado and other great sites (including the Sorolla museum -- don't miss it), this hotel is perfect. The lobby is wonderfully elegant, as is the dining and other rooms on the first floor. Our room was perfect -- all amenities, high ceilings, fast elevator. But the best feature is the...

From the moment we stepped into this beautiful hotel - we did not stop to be amazed. A very affective and charming staff- who made our stay even happier. The decoration of the hotel was so romantic and as we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary- it was just perfect. The hotels restaurant was the best food we had in...

Hotel Orfila is beautiful and has a wonderful staff. The rooms are spacious, the bed and pillows are very comfortable. The bathroom is not very big - at least in our room - and the doors in the bathroom interfered with each other. The towels are thick and plush and there were nice amenities. The staff is wonderful and extremely...

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The small XIX century palace was transformed into a hotel in 1999, respecting the majestic style of the era, at the same time as installing all the appropriate commodities for a luxuorious establishment from the end of the nineteenth century. Only a year after it opened, the hotel joined the Relais Chateaux Chain of hotels, a group of the most prestigious hotels in the world. The hotels belonging to the Relais Chateaux must have 4 or 5 stars and less than 100 rooms, and be outstanding their strict respect for the five concepts that define the philosophy of this hotel chain: character, courtesy, charm and cuisine. ... more   less
