Great location, nice room, extremely pleasant and helpful staff. We got upgraded to a small 'suite'. A small living, spacious bedroom with a glass bathroom installation (offered almost no privacy, but was ok for us). It was on the ground floor and had almost no natural light, as overlooked a very small court yard - not really a problem. The...

This hotel had nice rooms of a reasonable size. It's location was good - just on the edge of the central Madrid area. 5-10 minutes stroll to all the good eating areas, and about 20 minutes easy walk to the Prado area. Our night was disturbed by a bunch of drunk English women, but that's not the hotel's fault. Good...

We arrived very tired from a long drive and were able to pull up outside the hotel where we unloaded the bags and the hotel staff took the car away for Parking. We were then checked in to Room 115 - what a disaster - so small and with no natural light let alone a view. It was so depressing...

We loved this hotel, friendly door staff, our room was a good size with a wonderful large bathroom. The location is ideal, walking distance to attractions and shopping. At breakfast we particularly liked the idea of ham cut straight from the bone. Yum. I also had to print out boarding passes and there was a very good computer with printer...

Just off Gran Via so don't get too much commotion but overall excellent location in central Madrid. Double room for single person was large enough with double paned windows and auto dark shutters to keep out all noise and light at night. It's true, Spain is a late night country. Good hot showers, toiletries, and individual room controlled air/con, which...

I spent a weekend at Preciados, and on the last day, I noticed that my nightdress was missing. Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
