We stayed in a three bedded room at the Sterling Hotel. We found the room ample in size and very clean with shower gel and shampoo together with a hairdryer. There was a mini bar together with a few snacks which we didn't use at all, but handy to have a fridge during the hotter months. The only down side...

We stayed at the Sterling as part of a two day trip to see Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Three star, well appointed in the theatre area of the city and very close to two Metro stations (which you'll need as the city is huge!). The neighbourhood had a number of 'Saunas' near the hotel but we felt perfectly safe,...

Booked this hotel cheap and cheerful. Room and bathroom spotlessly clean. Not a great view from our window but not an issue as we were only in the room to sleep. All hotel staff were curtious friendly and hotel is ideally located for exploring this beautiful city. Breakfast was fine. Typical continental. Nothing to get excited about but got what...

This hotel was the best. Great location! so close to Gran via and the subway in order to get around Madrid. Everything is so close, loads of food places, smoothie places, a variety of all the foods you could think of, starbucks and millions of shops! The subway was easy to get to and easy to understand if you can...

I stay here just now. Good location near Gran Via and nice staff, but very noisy (thin walls and slamming doors) and poor breakfast (no eggs, no yoghurt) Not up to my expectations considering the price.

Despite booking 6 months prior the first thing that happened was reception tried to get us to move to a partner hotel saying they were overbooked. We declined and after 15 minutes discussing they allocated us rooms. The rooms were clean but mine had a strong odour of boiled cabbage or old socks. The only thing it had in its...

Disappointing to see the room did not look like the photos. Our room had one window facing the interior ventilation area, so no view and dark inside without lights. But maybe a blessing to avoid hearing street traffic below. Other than that, it was clean, and a good central location that allowed fine sight seeing within easy walking distance. A...

Excellent, clean, comfortable, central. Near Gran Via but away from the bustle. Were able to get to both Gran Via and Plaza de Espana easily, plus explore Malasana and Chueca. Great Chinese restaurant across the street.

The location is the biggest plus point about this hotel. Close to grand via it was a breeze to get yo main attractions and other activities. The check in process was smooth and had no trouble at all. The other thing that no other hotel offered while we traveled to europe was the the switch board with the 220 volt...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
