First impression: when we arrived the hotel entrance and downstairs interior quite regal looking which is lovely. The reception staff all looked really unhappy and didn't give the impression they were really pleased to see you. We had booked a quadruple room as we were a family of four. Our room itself looked freshly decorated and was well presented with...

Great room and ammenities, excellent restaurant, great staff, the location couldn´t be better. Confort, relaxation and quietness in the heart of Madrid. Definitely recommend. The half board is a great option! Very very good and varied breakfast!

Spend 3 nights in Hotel Mayorazgo and really enjoyed our time there. Ideal location for getting out and about as located just off Gran Via...lots of shops, restaurants, theatres, cafes...to choose from. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful with any requests that you may have. We had a standard room and could not fault the room size, cleanliness and...

Great location, very friendly staff, specially the staff in charge of breakfast :-) I payed some extra money for 2h later checkout. My room was very small and could be more cleaned, but anyway i didn't spent too much time in the room. The wifi connection was low quality. Best: Location, price and breakfast. Worst: Not too clean and really...

This hotel is at a good location, has all modern facilities, good breakfast, gentle staff and value for money, but I feel they should provide one tea/coffee maker in the room, this is the only thing found lacking.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of February. The hotel is ideally located, very close to the main sights/attractions. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice! There were a few issues with the hotel though. The radiator in our room was stuck on full heat so I had to ask...

We arrived for check in at the Hotel Mayorazgo and discovered our booking had been made twice, 4 rooms instead of 2, this did not cause a lot of concern but 1 reservation was with breakfast another without. The young lady who was helping us advised she had only been on the job for a couple of weeks (I think...

Stayed here with my husband. Reception and breakfast area are lovely rustic charm with a modern twist. Staff are very helpful and polite. Good selection of food at breakfast and times are from 7am-11am which is handy. Rooms are old fashioned and walls are paper thin we literally heard every word a family staying in an adjacent room said we...

The accommodation was arranged by our guide (spanishdaystravel.com), there were three of us and the first two nights we were given a double bedded with an extra bed thrown in. It was a pretty tight space with hardly room to move or open our luggage. The heaters were working great but the shower head kept falling on us when we...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
