Me and my friend stayed here in January 2010. The hotel was located on a main high street in a perfect location by loads of shops and restaurants. We were both very pleased. It was perfect for us. It was clean, staff was helpful. We’d stay again if we return to Madrid.
Excellent location just off Grand Via. Can easily walk to many attractions in the city. Nearby metro stations and only 30 mins from airport in taxi at €30 fixed price. Rooms clean and comfortable. Maybe a small bit dated but in immaculate condition. Clean bathroom with all facilities working properly. Good quality towels and plenty of them. Would have been nice to have some bottled water in room. Staff we met were all very friendly and helpful from assistance with luggage to arranging a taxi. Did not eat in the hotel but food areas looked very nice. Excellent value for money and if I have the chance to return to Madrid would not be looking for anywhere else to stay.
Good: The best part of this hotel is that it is very close to everything. I don't have to walk for anything. It was right there. So, as far as location goes, it can be beaten. Bad: The wall was so thin, I heard my neighbor's coughing all night long. The check-in area is tiny and if you have more than six people, it feels very crowded. There weren't enough outlets and there wasn't a desk, at least in my room. The toilet paper is very rough. Ugly: I am not sure whether this is common in Spain, but we were hit with the maximum wifi quota for that day and we were not able to use wifi until the next day. Speaking of ugly, I saw something in the bathroom that did not make any sense at all and it turns out that it was a European bidet. If you are not sure what I am talking about, go to the Youtube and search for "how to use Spanish bidet". It is hilarious and the best part of it all is that this is not a joke.…
My family and I stayed at Regente Hotel for a night on our way to Andalusia. The location is right on Gran Via, the main road with lots of high end shopping options and restaurants. Porte de Sol is 10 mins walk and the Cathedral and Royal Palace are 15 mins walk away. We stayed in a family suite, which is a small bedroom and a lounge with a sofa bed. There isn't much walking space in the room between the furniture and walls. The washroom is big (about the same size as the lounge). Furniture is fairly basic, much like one would find in most European 3/4 star properties. Breakfast restaurant on the 2nd floor is a smallish hall and therefore had a long waiting line. Breakfast spread is disappointing and I think for the price of €15 one can get better options in the nearby cafes. Checkin was smooth however at Checkout I was charged €50 for parking (and I didn't have a car!). Since the amount had already been charged to my credit card, despite several attempts the reception staff couldn't reverse the transaction, eventually on my request paid the excess in cash back to me. Overall an average hotel.…
The hotel is located in a great walking distance to everything. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The negatives were that it was very noisy, could hear everything. We could hear someone blowing their nose in the room next to us and moving things around in the rooms close by which was very annoying. Our room was located next to the street so could barely get any sleep as you could hear the people walking past outside and lights from the street lit up our room even though we had our curtains closed.
