Stayed here for two nights weekend in Jan 2015. The location is fantastic, everything is in walking distance. All the sights, bars, shops, restaurants so much on offer nearby. Staff were helpful. Rooms were very clean, beds turned down at night, towels replaced if required. Wifi in hotel was perfect connection. Rooms decor slightly dated and bed small and uncomfortable...

This hotel is in a great location, very close to one of the main squares and subway. It is clean, with a spacious room, and a nice bathroom. the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good. One downside is that even though the room had free wifi you only can add one device to it at a...

Best location, right in the middle of all the action and sights! Nice hotel, a little old fashion, but very clean and good breakfast. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful with exception the lady at morning reception when we checked out (no smile, no "hope you enjoyed your stay", nothing)

We stayed here for a weekend break in January 2015, location is the best thing about this hotel its so central and so easy to plan your day. The rooms were a little small but clean comfortable and had all you need for a weekend break. The staff were very helpful although you often had to look for a barman...

We stayed in hotel Liabeny one night shortly after New Year. The hotel’s location is an absolute plus, at a stone’s throw from Puerta del Sol and equally close to Callao. It’s just beside the pleasant little Plaza del Carmen. This is central Madrid for sure. The royal palace is ten minute walk and so is Plaza Mayor. The only...

We stayed here at 2014 New Year's eve, since we wanted to be New Year's countdown event at Puerta del Sol where is 2 blocks from the hotel. Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
