The hotel has an excellent location and is close to the shopping streets, metro station and within walking distance from the museums, palace and park. The personnel was very friendly and helpful and we received a late check out. The breakfast was good and the room very comfortable.

I choose this hotel because of the reviews. I Can't understand such high rating by reviewers. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The worst aspect about this hotel is the room and an the staff. The room and the bathroom are really dark and in a terrible old style. The men at the check-in was very... More

Located in central Madrid hotel a short walk from Porta del Sol and major metro stations. Hotel near many restaurants. It is recommended to ask for a room on a high floor to avoid noise. Major sites within walking.

We stayed three nights at this well located, central to everything hotel. The room and bed were comfortable and had everything we needed (no coffee or tea in room). Staff was helpful and efficient. You do have to get up three stairs to get to the elevator but there are always staff around who can help with a heavy suitcase.... More

I visited on a recent trip based on the reviews, but I don't know why people love it at all. I'm giving it an average 3*-only because of the great location, which is very central - a lovely area to walk around - but just off the main busy roads. The hotel room itself was very old style. Classic for... More

we stayed, in total, five nights. Everything worked well, the staff were very helpful, and both accommodation and food were excellent. We were initially concerned about the possibility of noise, but in a ground floor room, the triple glazing meant it was very quiet (and the noise was principally a few 'happy' people going home, very little traffic). Right next... More

Many wonderful attributes of this hotel.Walking distance to the museums and sights. Quiet street off the main drag. Wonderful high speed internet-the best we've had in Europe. Very good breakfast, yogurt, cheese, fruits, coffee, juice, breads and meats. Great staff eager to please-especially Daniel the Concierge. Downside is the facility-it is dated. The curtains could not open in our room... More

This hotel was CLEAN, and located smack in the middle of the historical center. We did not go on a bus or train our entire visit - we walked to all of the sites we wanted to see. The room was very comfortable with English news channels on the TV, and a very comfortable bed. Hotel staff was most helpful.

This is a nice place to stay in the heart of the Centro zone of downtown Madrid. It's clean, has an accommodating staff, the breakfast was terrific, especially the dark bold coffee. We walked to the sites during our brief stay. The price for the value was reasonable. I would stay at the Liabeny again if we get back to... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
