When we booked this B and B we were a little worried because a balcony room wasn't available, but we were delighted with our spacious and comfortable room which was actually large enough that we were able to invite American friends who were in town for a drink before going out. The B and B is in a wonderful area...

Ideal location in the center of Madrid for visits and walks (10-15 mn from the Prado, Thyssen or Reina Sofia). A warm welcome by Paola and Rodolfo, excellent breakfasts, fruitful exchanges with them and other people staying at ArtisticBandB (up to 8 nationalities around the table in one week). We were in a large and very nice and clean room,...

I stayed here at the beginning of July for 3 nights. It was close enough to walk to from the central train station, it's uphill, but I managed with my suitcase just fine. The b&b itslef was pretty easy to find, they give you very good directions on how to get there. On arrival, I had to carry my case...

My wife and I had a brief but lovely stay here and it was just perfect. The room, the breakfast, the location and of course the welcome all lovely. We had to curtail our visit at short notice and Paola was very understanding. Highly recommend it. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for 5 nights Sept 2016. Apart from the stairs (tough with suitcases which we knew it would be) it was a very good place, clean, with friendly and knowledgable staff, tasty breakfast and "character". We had Room 4, economy room with private bathroom and w/c. Good size for 2 but not very large so pack light for the...

Rodolfo was a very good host and made sumptuous breakfast for us while we were in Madrid. He even packed us some healthy snacks for our journey when we checked out early in the morning. It is very convenient to visit the museums from Artistic and about 15 min walk to the Plaza Mayor. The host provided us a with...

Centrally located, easy walk to all the main attractions in Madrid Room was very clean, own bathroom, all facilities including air con. Breakfast was sumptuous with lots of options for one in our group who was gluten free. Hosts were very helpful with directions to all the attractions. Operated by a lovely family. We would highly recommend this B&B.

Even though we'd read so many great reviews, I don't think we expected it to be quite so special. Paola and Rodolfo were such lovely hosts, baking fresh bread each day and helping us make the most of our long weekend in Madrid. We stayed in two different rooms, each with lovely, quirky touches and very comfortable. They made it...

This is a special place to lay your head in Madrid. It's in the most wonderful section of town. It appears to be an old section and very quaint AND still very much alive. You can walk from the inn (which is itself in a terrific area with shops and restaurants) to much of the city including the 3 world-class...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
