#240 of 473 hotels in Madrid
Exe Plaza is, quite possibly, one of the most intelligent choices in Madrid for those seeking comfort, easy communications, tranquillity and an excellent quality-price ratio. The hotel is located in Plaza Castilla, at the foot of the KIO Towers, on Paseo de la Castellana and surrounded by the country's leading banks and companies. What is more, it is very near Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Chamartin train station and the Four Towers Business Area Complex.

Stayed for 2 weeks at the end of January. I was visiting another company that had an office a 10 minute walk from the hotel so very convenient. Food the in on site restaurant was of a good quality and there is plenty of restaurants nearby if you want to change it up a bit. Good breakfast in the morning with plenty of choice. Room and overall hotel was clean and staff were polite and looked after me during my stay. The football stadium is a short walk away and you can hop on the metro to visit the more touristy centre of madrid if you need. The station is right outside. The airport is only a 15 minute drive away. Will stay here again.

What else is there to be said? Buffet breakfast is ok if a bit pricey - there are cheaper options nearby. A very small gym on L2, which guests don't seem to use a lot so I've had it all to myself. Lower levels can be a bit noisy on weekends and the late night crowd around the 24H McDonald's next door can seem a bit seedy.

Stayed here from 5th to 9th November 2019 and we were upgraded to a Junior Suite. The suite was clean and very comfortable, The only let down was that the shower was over the bath. Unlike many hotels we have stayed in the Hotel Exe Plaza followed through with their promise to make sure the room was feather free. The chocolates and the Cava were very welcome. Breakfast at the hotel was exceptional with a wide choice of food. Only let down at breakfast was that the staff were too quick at cleaning the table while you were still eating. The staff at the front desk were welcoming. The Hotel’s location was ideal for a mixture of business and revelation. Situation beside the metro and a short ride into the city made it an ideal base for us. The hotel is surrounded by places to eat from McDonald’s and Taco Bell immediately under the hotel to some very good restaurants in the surrounding streets.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer better views. Our suite was at the back and side and offered a terrific view

In the evening on September 28th 2019, I arrived at the property after a long journey with a considerable delay and lost baggage in Frankfurt. I tried to check-in but the receptionist refused to register me and insisted on me paying in advance. I tried to explain I was on a business trip with a colleague of mine who would pay upon check-out by a business credit card which he was in charge of. My colleague had checked in at the hotel on the previous day without any problems and was out at that moment. I tried to inform the man at the reception that this was unbelievable. Everywhere you have an option - to pay at check-in or check-out. He would not care. His answer was these were the requirements of the property. I asked him why they were not published on the web-site but he could not answer. In general, it was a real ordeal to communicate with this person for his command of English was very poor. I had to wait for 45 minutes for my colleague to come back to the hotel and pay for my check-in. So if you plan to stay at this property, please reconsider it. I do not think it is a clever choice. I myself will never do it again.

I've stayed here twice now for business. The location is north of the city, so not great for tourists looking to be very central, although the hotel is on the main road which cuts right through the city and you can be very central in a cab in 10 mins. Nothing about the hotel is amazing, but the staff are fine, the room is fine, the breakfast is ok - a big buffet with a typical continental breakfast. The only disappointment for me so far has been the "gym" which is in reality just a hotel room with the furniture removed and some cardio equipment added, most of which doesn't work. There was only the treadmill which was useable. Other than that, no complaints. Plus, if you arrive late and need food, there's a 24hr mcdonalds right outside the front door.
