All staff were excellent as was the room and shower with tub. Located north of the park, there are plenty of restaurants and bars plus accessible shops and markets for food and the like. Easy access to the airport (18 minutes by taxi).
My husband stayed at this hotel for 11 nights, and I joined him for the last four. The hotel is in a great location - very close to Nunez de Balboa station, and there are some lovely local restaurants and market within 10 minutes walk. The room (albeit small) was very clean. The hotel lobby is a great place to hang out during the hot afternoons, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. What lets this hotel down (and as observed by some of the other reviewers) are the very small blacked out windows - during the summer, this feels very claustrophobic. The air con can be quite noisy/rattling sound and therefore we found it quite hard to sleep. A good stay and lovely hotel, but slightly let down by the above.
We spent only a few days at this hotel. In general, everything was good, except for the room size (that was really small, what seems to be true for most of the rooms at this hotel, and had a window pointed to another building, what made it slightly claustrophobic) and the fact that room service was not working with the phone app and the options for dinner/room service were not very clear. The hotel location is great, very close to the US embassy and to Calle Serrano.
Free airport shuttle advertised. Ended up being charged EUR35 one way. The reception staff were not interested in addressing the issue and tried to palm it off to Expedia. In the end they just said bad luck. Very poor experience.
My 30 days stay in a Melia property in Madrid had started the worst way, what is even more discouraging is that I have 29 days ahead. I booked the hotel 2 weeks ago, originally Melia Princesa, a 5 star hotel. Today I got to the airport and I had already booked my transfer to the hotel. Once arrived to Melia princesa we found out that the hotel was completely closed, under renovation. No phone number, no indications, anything. I started calling the Melia call center which basically is a virtual operator, after several minutes at the phone answering nonsense questions I got transferred to a human being, which happened to be as useless as the virtual operator given the fact that this person couldn’t even locate my reservation nor give me any direction of what to do. Luckily my driver started asking other drivers of the same transportation company to see if they knew about the Melia Princesa situation. One told him Melia was transferring all the reservations from Princesa to Serrano so we headed to Serrano. Once arrived to Serrano I found out that in fact my reservation was transferred there without giving any information about it. After 1h going around and obviously a extra cost for the driver’s time wasted I arrived to the correct hotel. But this was the beginning, things were not getting any better. I waited 20min at the lobby till I could do the check in, only 1 person is attending at the front desk. Once checked in I asked for a bigger room as I’ll be 30 days here and got 6 luggage with me, after paying for an upgrade they sent me to a 2nd floor room, super noisy. Due to Covid protocol bar is open till 9pm, after that hour room service is the only way to get a bottle of water (Covid protocol also eliminated mini bar). If you are lucky to contact room service you’ll get your water, actually I’ve been calling for 15’ with no answer. I insisted with front desk but no answer either. I get the Covid protocol but the alternatives the hotel gives you to sort the protocol aren’t working. Everything happened during the first day of my stay, I can imagine what awaits me for the following 29 days (already payed for the full stay). Keep you posted. Please if you haven’t booked your hotel yet, get away from Melia Madrid properties.…
