The location is excellent very close from the Retiro Park and not far from the center by walk. Nice room but perhaps not at the level expected for a 4 stars level. No free bottle of water in the room is stingy.

Hotel was impressive clean & comfortable, with friendly staff. Conveniently near to station (walking distance). Despite room overlooking main road, was not too noisy. Lovely spacious foyer for sitting/having a drink etc.

The location of the hotel is perfect, close to public transport, restaurants, and cultural attractions (the museums) and parks. Rooms although somewhat small are very comfortable and clean. Parquet flooring. Bathroom area separate from our room by door, and toilet/shower area partitioned by glass from sink and wardrobe section. Nice views from our rooms of the trees and park. Excellent...

Booked for 11 nights. The free wifi is worst like in the '90. Poor options for breakfast. The personal was not helpful and above all I was requested to pay after 5 days the entire invoice. Too bad for NH.

Location is great for those planning to visit all 3 art museums in the area. The room was well maintained. I had a good sleep. The location is close to the Atocha train station and bay for the buses going to the airport. After doing a day tour, I was able to avail of free access to the museum nearby....

The room is clean but small, good connection of wifi. The breakfast variety is not very good, very few hot dishes. Good location, very near to Atocha train station and Museo Prado. Lots of eateries around the hotel.

Excellent location for a long weekend stay. Very short walk from Atocha Train Station, 10 minute walk to The Prado and Botanics, and easy 25 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. The hotel itself is fresh, decor nice, good shower and extensive breakfast.

Stayed here with some friends and have to day that there isn't much to criticise. The rooms are nice, modern and clean and we even had a little balcony with a great view. That really made up for the rather small size of the rooms. Most importantly, staff was nice and helpful. Receptionists might need a bit of a training...

We rented our room through Expedia. On the of our arrival we could not check in unless we decided to pay 25 Euros extra per day for "superior" room. Ladies at the check-in disk spoke rudimentary English only, not understanding what we said, but pushing for the upgrade which we refused. They said "you cannot afford it", which is not...

I have not been disappointed with NH hotels. Here and in Sevilla. A good value. Comfortable. Quality staff. Worth staying at with several locations to choose from. Historic Madrid awaits you in this wonderful hotel chain.

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
