Needed a hotel close to the Atocha train station and this was perfect. Spent just one night but it was extremely comfortable, well appointed and reasonably priced. The modern decor was terrific and the shower & bath amenities were exceptional.

Close to atocha train station and the lavapies area the hotel itself is superb rooms excellently decorated. The bar downstairs serves local produced beverages and international brands too. We didn't use the restaurant as we stayed close to the lavapies area which has without a doubt some of the finest tapas bars in Spain. All in all a grea trip... More

The Hotel is within walking distance to the train station ATOCHA and this helps to plan one day trips to Zaragoza, Valencia, Sevilla, Cordoba. It is on Paseo del Prado so you can walk to Museo del Prado. To Plaza Mayor is a 17 min walk. The Hotel is clean, the Lobby nice, the staff friendly. Rooms are small, nice,... More

My husband and I stayed there for three uncomfortable nights. The employees, although polite, were not helpful and in fact promised things and gave advice that were frustratingly inaccurate and amounted to nothing. They could not provide the promised airconditioning, bed comfort, and accurate requested tourist information. There is no concierge and the people at the desk do not give... More

Great hotel. Location was central and close to transportation. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone. Hotel room and bathroom was larger than most European hotel rooms, so that was a wonderful surprise.

My husband and I spent 6 nights at this hotel and were very happy with the level of service and the location of the hotel. It is walking distance to all the sites, but i you want to use public transportation, there are buses and a subway nearby. Our room was a superior room on the 6th floor overlooking Retiro... More

My partner and I spent 2 nights at this hotel at the start of a 2 week holiday travelling around Spain by rail. NH Madrid Nacional was definitely one of the better hotels we stayed in. The location is excellent, close to the railway station, the Prado, the Reina Sofia and the Retiro park. Our room was right at the... More

Excellent location across from the train station. The hop on hop off bus stops just around the corner and there are many attractions and restaurants located a short walk away. The room was plenty of space for me as a single and I had a high room with a balcony overlooking the street. If I am back in Madrid, I... More

The location is excellent very close from the Retiro Park and not far from the center by walk. Nice room but perhaps not at the level expected for a 4 stars level. No free bottle of water in the room is stingy.

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
