Stayed here for just one night. Tucked away near lots of tiny bars & restaurants. The hotel was comfortable and clean & the staff were helpful. It is a short walk away from the Plaza de Espana, and not much further away are the Royal Palaces. Although slightly away from the City centre, I've stayed in this area before and...

Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights at Christmas time, and it was great. The hotel though old, is very charming and elegant. What i liked about the hotel: 1) Location - very close to the metro stop (1 minute walk), and close to several sights of interest including the royal palace - almost walked to all places in the...

We stayed here for four nights and at 90 EUR per night it was an extraordinary value. The rooms were of standard size, maybe slightly smaller than usual, but not too small. The hotel and the rooms were spotless and the bed quite comfortable. Only complaint is that you can hear absolutely everything going on in the hotel; however, it...

This hotel is quite conveniently located for all the tourist attractions, and is just on the border of the old town and tourist areas. There are two convenient metro stops within 5 minutes walk, as well as numerous eating places right outside the hotel. The hotel itself is located off the main street in a quiet area. The rooms and...

This was my second stay at this hotel in Madrid, this time for 3 nights. I got a 3 for price of 2 nights offer (room only) on Aer Lingus website which whilst still a bit expensive I felt was worth it for the comfort and convenient location. About 3 minutes walk from Plaza de Espagna Metro stop and about...

The hotel is located very close to an Underground station with lifts, and within walking distance of nearly everything we wanted to see. On a hot afternoon in a busy city, it was an oasis of cool tranquillity. We arrived, hot and tired after a long journey, and the friendly, English-speaking staff really took good care of us. The rooms...

Good location on side but just few steps from main streets, King Palace and not far from Prado or 'old town'. Rooms are clean, comfortable. Hotel is quiet and with nice, quiet talking staff. Very special, relaxed environment. Rooms available below 100 euro but very expensive restaurant, underground parking (25 euro per night) and any additional services. I would like...

Have stayed here a few times. Short summary is that available rates seem to be very low at times - €100 or even less per night - at which point this is great value. Hotel is slightly shabby but has charm - it is full of original features that are a world away from typical business hotels. It's the sort...

I stayed at this Sofitel for just one night. While the hotel does not stand out as a superb luxury hotel, it is of very good standard and provided good value for money spent. The breakfast was a bit expensive, though, considering the selection of items in the buffet. Front desk service was courteous.

Staying in Arguelles

Neighbourhood Profile
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
