We stayed here for 2 nights. It was in an ideal location, easy to walk to the center of the city and the main sights. It was also close to a subway stop. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. We discovered there was a sun roof. The pool wasn't open yet, but we relaxed in the sun...

I booked a trip to Madrid as a surprise for my partners 30th birthday and I couldn't of picked a better hotel for many reasons. Firstly, the hotel were very helpful and forthcoming with my requests for a few banners and balloons to be in the room for when we arrived, along with a bottle of cava - nothing was...

Great staff, pleasant and attentive. Showers are really great, these are nicely designed rooms with very comfortable beds. I would highly recommend a stay here - the location is easily walkable to most everywhere you'd want to tour in Madrid.

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Atocha train station, the Reina Sofia Museum, the Prado, etc; there's a subway station a few doors down, too. A nice variety of restaurants and cafes close by and at the Plaza de Santa Ana beckon. The rooms are updated and much roomier than what you'll find in New York...

On checking in we were offered an upgrade for an extra 15€ per nt. After being shown the room on 5th floor and checking in we noticed not only, the room was bigger with a superior view but the walk-in shower was UNIQUE. In my some 55 years of travel and hotel stays I have never experienced its equal! Two...

Dear guest, thank you so much for your nice reveiw and the detailed description of the bathroom and the shower set. It is true that the rain effect is very well appreciated by most of our guests as well as the dimesions itself of the shower. The hotel definitely is for one -two days stay only. For the people who travel in Spain and want to see Madrid : the hotel close to Atocha railway station and main sightseeing places. That is all its benefits. The weak sides: The receptionists are slow and not helpful. The AC is not working in the room,if working ,then the...

Entrance to metro station "Anton Martin" is almost in front of the hotel and most important buildings and places of "Madrid Centro" are only a walk of 10 to max. 15 minutes away. furthermore you...

The Hotel Catalonia Atocha was easy to access from the Atocha Renfe Station via the Metro Line 1. The Anton Martin stop is less than a five-minute walk away, but keep in mind when toting luggage that this station like many others in the system lacked escalators or elevator. The hotel is located on busy Calle de Atocha but we...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
