Good location, excellent quality breakfast, nicely furnished room and hotel, friendly and good service, but our stay would have been ruined without earplugs, which as experienced travellers we always carry but don't expect to use in a good hotel. Thin walls, more reminiscent of a French 2 star hotel than a 5 star hotel, meant disturbance from noises from other... More

Spent one night here on a short city break. Very nice hotel; clean, comfortable room with all the expected extras of a 5 star hotel. Friendly staff and pleasant bar area. Delicious breakfast albeit quite expensive at €25 each. Perfect location in the centre of Madrid. Ali

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Villa Real last week and loved the experience. The staff at Hotel Villa Real were excellent. Every staff member we encountered went out of their way to provide us with great service. The front desk staff was extremely helpful with answering public transit questions and offering recommendations. Taxis were almost always right outside... More

The location in this hotel is absolutely an advantage among the hotel in Madrid. It is not in the city centre, but it avoids a lot of noisy and complicity. You may easily access to the metro or even walk to the nearby attractions such as the palace and museum. Apart from the location, the service is also not bad!... More

Only had a one night stay here but the room was very comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast , whilst quite expensive at Euro 25 each , was superb. Well located for everything central in Madrid. Neil

This hotel is recommended by a couple of respected travel writers and it should be: a lovely (but not elegant) spot close to museums, restaurants and shopping in Madrid. The split level rooms give the sense of being larger than they actually are and come with wood floors (not wall-to-wall carpet like many hotels) simple and stylish furnishings, and leather-like... 4 day family break during which we were hit by injury and illness. Staff have been extremely helpful throughout - receptionists, bar staff (loved my gun fizz😄), housekeeping, porter and night porter especially (offered much needed help when my daughter took ill through the night), and breakfast staff (they very kindly made a doggy breakfast bag for my youngest who'd... This is one of the Derby Hotels Collection. It is very well located withing walking distance of the Plaza Mayor, Prado, and botanical gardens among other attractions. There is a highly regarded but pricey restaurant off of the lobby which we did not sample. Breakfast is offered there but is rather expensive and there are plenty of breakfast places near... More

A truely exceptional hotel, literally yards away from the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza musea. The rooms are spactious with a large bed and divine pillows. At a surcharge you can enjoy from an elaborate breakfast buffet. Warm dishes like eggs, pancakes and blinis with salmon are made to order. The staff is very friendly and helpful. What made the hotel even... More

Great location. Close to the Prado museum and Plaza de Ana which is full of restaurants. Easy to walk anywhere in downtown Madrid from this hotel. Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
