Love this location. Walking distance to 3 major museums (Prado, Thyssen and Sofia). Tour bus, restaurants, shopping and famous park. Room is large with a nice step down seating area. Overall a little tired and dark. Price point reasonable for area

We stayed in between Xmas and new year for 3 nights, the hotel is in a great location 5 min walk from the airport bus stop if you use it, or 30 euros taxi, minutes from lots of the main attractions and plaza Santa Ana just up from the hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was...

Strongly recommend hotel. Had a great weekend there - and will be coming back. Friendly and polite staff who welcomed us. We were also given a glass of complimentary champagne which I thought was a very nice gesture. Large and clean room.

As to my opinion hotel's room without radiator in winter time is not good. The room, which I stayed in the hotel has air heating with individual conditioner. It was possible to heat the room, but still it is noisiest way to do it (more preferable to have radiators with valves, which are not so noisy). Secondly, the glass partition...

Charming hotel, located just a couple of steps from Prado and Palace Real. Very friendly. Relaxing atmosphere. Excellent for both holidays and business. We really enjoyed the terrace. Rooms are clean and nice decorated.

We had a very comfortable stay here. The location was great...walking distance to most places of interest. It's a short stroll from the Prado and El Retiro park. It's about 15 mins to Salamanca and 10 minutes to Plaza Puerto del Sol. The room itself was a good size, nice shower and toiletries from The White Company. Breakfast was excellent...

My son and I stayed at Hotel Villa Real for three nights in January. The best attribute of the hotel for us was its great location. The hotel is located fairly close to the train station, easily walkable if need be. The hotel is also in very close proximity to the three primary museums, the old core part of town,...

The bilevel room was very nice and the staff were extremely accommodating especially since we asked for a late checkout. However I took off a star because of the skateboarders out front (someone else mentioned this) which marred the really nice view. Also, the front desk recommended a restaurant that turned out to be the worst of our trip throughout...

What a great hotel! Right smack in the center of Madrid but just a little off to the side which provides peace and quite. The hotel is lovely, very clean, staff professional and reactive. The room (a two-level suite) was the coolest room we have ever stayed in. It was on the 5th floor and had a beautiful view of...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
