We got off our train and headed upstairs and there was the hotel right infront of us beside the metro stop. This was ideal. Only once we found our feet in Madrid did we realise how central we were in the city. This was great. Only 5 minute walk from Gran Via the main shopping street. Service in the hotel...

It is a great hotel in the heart of Madrid. The staff was just super. They were so nice to my then 4-year-old. We had the opportunity to stay in the deepwater scene panoramic view room. It was quite an experience to stay there. The rooftop pool area is very nice too. The breakfast was really good and plenty.

Good breakfast and my room were ok, my friend's room was terrible, the wallpaper was falling off. The staff at the front desk was very unfriendly Santo Domingo, the girl looked and talked like she...

Fantastic hotel! Nice clean rooms, loved the underground 'cave' bar. Good location. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was very nice too. Only downside is there was no price list in mini bar and turned out quite expensive for some second level brands (like a beer made by Heineken but not Heineken itself). Overall, fantastic hotel.

First minute we got inside the room we noticed a bad smell coming from the bathroom. And yes the toilet was used!!! And not only that the carpet was like somebody had a party on it. We both went to the resection and asked them to clean it or to change room. They tried both. But all the rooms where...

Nice hotel, but the standard room was too small and it was to warm inside, because the hotel turned off the aircondicion in the wintertime. We changed the room to another standard room, but this room was smelling very bad from the bathroom. The bed and pillow was not very comfortable. The waiter at the breakfast was very nice, but it...

Beautiful hotel in city centre and just a short stroll to Grand Via where you can shop till you drop.a visit to Primark is a must. Amazing store. Loads of reasonably priced restaurants nearby. Madrid has loads to sightsee. The hotel bedroom was very comfortable and warm. Only thing I missed in the room was tea/coffee making facilities. I had...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
