I stayed here for six days and I have to say the location could not be better. Right in the middle of the pedestrian Arenal area, and two minutes walk from the Opera Metro. The room itself was very large with a nice ensuite, a flatscreen TV and free Wi Fi. The staff could not have been more friendly and...

Hotel is located just next Puerta del Sol, we spent 6 nights there and really nothing to complain. Hotel is not fancy but clean and comfortable for a decent price. Staff is also really nice. Just be careful with the spanish nights, could be really noisy if your window is on the street.

We've choosed Hostal Ivor because of the central location. I read reviews before and had big expectations. Well, it's not that great as described but our room was big, we had a mini fridge, air conditioning, actually all we needed. The bathroom was small but OK. It was noisy, that's true, sometimes very noisy but, as we were tired at...

Hotel is located in the centre of Madrid, but the noise from the street where people are screaming and singing whole night long makes good sleeping not possible. The noise of the people and personnel is even worse. Also the toilet in the other room is waking you up.

Hostal Ivor is right in the Heart of Madrid on Calle del Arenal. Very clean, comfortable and great service. Everyone who works there is very helpful and courteous. I like the room on the outside where I can see what's going on. If you are a light sleeper, you can choose the inside rooms where they are quiet. I stayed...

Three of us stayed here recently in a 3 bed single room with private bathroom, clean, spacious, light and airy, could not fault the room with balcony that faced the main street Calle Arenal, no noise at all from outside only what came from reception, slept light the first night as I'd not long come off nights at work and...

location may be great for most, right in the center, but the street was always crowded with noisy people even at late late hours. The room was nice but not what we booked. We booked a room for 2 with a twin bed, was given a 3 single bed room, but was charged for a twin. When asked why, we...

I enjoyed a wonderful 3 day stay at Hostal Ivor. My room was small but still lovely with a little balcony. Excellent location close to Metro Plaza del Sol. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this Hostal.

Like it's been said the location is superb. Close to main sights and close to two metro stops. We asked a quiet room, so we were given a room from the back of the hotel. There was only a small window which didn't give so much light to the room. Also the "view" was the poorest I have seen, mainly...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
