Lovely place, impeccably clean with a really comfy bed. Yes the room was small but this is Madrid where being close to the centre of town (Zamora is one block off the Gran Via) is much more important (and paying a reasonable price is a real bonus). This meant we could come and go as required - with shopping, to...

Our room was small but perfectly adequate The air conditioning was a bit hit-and-miss, but we got it working in the end. Our shower had a window on one side, which was overlooked by the quadrant. There was no curtain, so pretty much everyone can see you in the shower. When we arrived, there was a tiny spot of blood...

A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights in October. This was my first stay in a hostel. It is located in the eclectic area, Chueca, of central Madrid and a quick walk to the Gran Via. There are lots of eateries and shops in the area. The proprietors were top-notch and very friendly. The desk is manned 24-hours...

Again staying at this friendly hostal. Really welcoming, great views from our windows looking down on the lively square, fantastic value for money. Jose made us feel very welcome. Cannot fault anything. We will be coming back.

I just spent a week at the Hostal Zamora, my third time there in a year. As before, the room was very clean, the air conditioning good, and the helpfulness of the staff excellent. The location is perfect both for visiting important tourist sites as well as for getting to know Madrid more like a local. There is nothing at...

Hostal Zamora is in a cute building in central madrid. The staff speak English and are super friendly, and the bed was uber comfortable. I booked a single room and was in a large room with 2 single beds and double doors opening to a cute tiny balcony overlooking the square below. The was a budget place, but it had...

My friend and I chose Hostal Zamora for a 3-night stay in Madrid based on the TA reviews, and were not disappointed. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the central location was perfect. The bathroom was small but adequate. The A/C was the best one we encountered in Spain. It was a small, quiet unit, but was...

This is a very well located hostal in the heart of Madrid, where you can walk to all the most interesting places of Madrid and come back late for a good shower and a restful night. All the staff members are very friendly and helpful, specifically Jose, that kindly helped me to unlock the stuck padlock of my luggage. Rooms...

For a cheap place to rest your head this is perfect. However if we were to go again, I think we would spend a little more for extras. The room was a good sized but the bathroom was tiny with no windows so it got very hot and steamy. Beds were comfortable enough. The view of the square is pretty...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
