Visited at the end of October 2016. We were given a room on the first floor which was not renovated. The bathroom was clean but very small and had to hold the shower head to be able to shower as the stand for it didn't fit. The bed was small and on one side there was a huge dip making...

I stayed 1 night with my mum before travelling on. Room was really nice and modern with good aircon. Lots of little bars in the area so was woken all night (even with ear plugs) to the sound of people talking in the street below. Would request a room at the back next time. Only additions that would make stay...

Went to Madrid for a day with some friends and again chose to stay a night at Hostal Jemasaca Palma 61. This time we chose the a-bit-more-expensive rooms and it was a good choice. Nice a clean with a great bathroom. Friendly staff as always. In a way I don't want to recommend the hotel because then it will be...

it is a good place to spend some days at Madrid, very near of centre town, nice room, clean and a good television. Close to bars and night party zone of Malasaña, but in a street where no noises. Perfect price, a wonderful place to go.

The hostal was clean and the staff friendly, although they could not speak much English. It is a bit further from the city centre than I expected. I would prefer to stay closer to Sol station next time I visit Madrid.

My wife and I arrived late on the Wednesday evening, but they were ready for us. We went directly from the airport, with the metro, to the hotel. Inexpensive and quick. The room was small, but big enough for two. Everything was clean and new. The shower was excellent and there was no noise despite being in a central area....

I've been in the lowest price room and the highest price room and all I can say is that the lowest price has too low quality when compared with the highest quality room. My advice, stay in the best room you can get.

The room is small but its all I needed - with a bed, closet and bathroom. The shower has hot water that took a while to get hot but good water pressure. The massive pain was the hotel switches off the air conditioner every morning at 7am - waking me up from my sleep. This is with 35 degrees temperature...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.

“ask for a room to one of the 2 courtyards as the (few) streetside rooms may be noisy especially on weekends, although the Hostal is located in a generally quiet side road. But on weekends a lot of "party people" walk the street and -once beeing drunk- it´s hardly possible not to realize they are arround!”
