Un hostel limpio y bien ubicado. Everything was really nice - I don't know why it has such bad reviews. A friendly señor checked me in and then I was shown a room with two twin beds and a sink. The TV in my room was good and had about 30 channels in English or Spanish. The rooms and shared...

This place was horrible. We booked a 'Superior Double with Private Bathroom' and it couldn't be further from the truth. The private bathroom was in fact a shower in one corner and a sink in the other corner of the bedroom. The toilet was in fact shared with all the guests. There is no privacy here. The family also lived...

The location is excellent and I found the room (single) extremely small and very warm. Though it was nice and clean as were the shared bathrooms. However there was no window in my room which got extremely hot and stuffy. Not very soundproof, could here the bloke in the next room snoring! !! Owner very rude and abrupt could do...

a house like hostel, fairly cheap, not much to expect. If you are looking for a budget accomondation in Madid it is recomendable due to the location wich is as central as can be, the low price and the decent services. fairly clean with hot water.

The woman who runs this hostal is a nightmare. She is rude, angry, miserable and aggressive if you complain or disagree with anything. Also, don't try to drop off your luggage before noon or she will tell you how you're inconveniencing her. The family lives in the hostal as well, so if you enjoy loud arguing, yelling and a tv...

The main problem is there are no windows in the rooms! It is like sleep in the tomb. There is no possibility how to air the room. I would never booked the room there if I knew about it. Do not believe the pictures they provide on their web pages!!! There is also no kitchen there and the management (owners...

The location is good, our room and the bathroom was clean, but our room and the other part of the common place has no window, a special stinky, sweaty air circulate everywhere. The worst thing is: you can drop in a noisy family life during your vacation if you stay at Bahia hostel. Maria, the wife is always angry, she...

I didn't get the girls name, and didn't stay long enough to find out. First off she fouled our room request, as I had stayed there before and new the room I wanted. The room she gave us had no windows etc. She was rude and angry. Luckily she refunded our money so we simply walked down the road to...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
