The staff went above and beyond, the shower was amazing and the room was clean with very comfortable bed. The property is within close walking distance to the Palace, Puerto del Sol, Market for tapas and Plaza Mayor. One downside was that only the heat or air runs so going in March when it is supposed to be cold but...

Excellent location, at the corner of Plaza Mayor, opposite to the san Miguel Market. The general feeling in the hotel is rather 3 stars than 4 stars. The room was somewhat dusty, the daily cleaning is not as elaborate as expected. Good breakfast, a wide selection of choices. Staff needed to be encouraged to refill the empty trays, though. Only...

We stayed one night. We asked for a room on a high floor to cut down noise as it is located right on Calle Mayor. It was not the most friendly hotel but it was a room in a good location. The shower was excellent. Don't pay for the breakfast. There are so many cheaper options to be found on...

Room 10 was right behind reception and backs onto a staircase with metal steps. Terrible sound proofing made for a bad night's sleep. Non existent view. Nice bathroom, very small room but good buffet breakfast.

Great hotel. Good free wifi. Across from plaza mayor and Mercado San Miguel. Walls are a bit thin but the rooms are nice and clean. Great views. Breakfast is offered which would be a good choice bc Madrid is not a full breakfast city.

Stayed five nights from 1st February, excellent value for central location in the Old Town. Good breakfast with a range of fresh and cooked dishes, fruits, juices, cheeses, breads, pastries etc. We were fortunate in having one of the bigger rooms on top floor with a view of the Teatro Royal, the Palace and the hills beyond. Overall, we liked the location and some amenities. The hotel does not have parking lot neither partnetship with one. We paid almost 32 euros for a night in a public parking lot nearby. Excellent value. The location is very good. Not only close to all major sights but very close to the meeting point for most guided tours. That was a huge bonus that we were unaware of before hand. The hotel was very clean with a staff that was as good, if not better, than many more expensive hotels.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
