This hotel is fair for the price in relation to the location. The hotel is all tile and the rooms are not sound proofed so you can hear when people walk through the hallways and are dragging their luggage as well as when the cleaning staff are cleaning the hotel. The room was large in size. The bed was terrible....

Pros: Good value. Close to centre. Room looked nice. They stored our baggage after checkout till flight (separate storage room and number system). Waiting room with access to wi-fi, computers and printer. Comfortable bed. Cons: Walls are bit too thin (we could hear night receptionist talking ; neighbours watching TV). Could have more comfortable shower.. Wi-fi wasn't very good. Street...

I stayed at this hotel with my mother and son. It was very clean and great located right near the Main Street gran via. No food at the hotel but a lot of places to eat right outside. The staff are very nice. All you need to have a great low budget vacation. There are some prostituts outside but they...

This hotel was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Everything that you could need was provided. The buffet breakfast was incredible. The food was delicious with every item well stocked. The price for the buffet was minimal compared to the quality of their offerings. Check-in and check-out was very efficient. The hotel staff became our immediate friends especially Ana, Paco...

ballesta is friendly and clean, good wifi, but basic. as a hostal, there is no breakfast available. but its location by gran via means many options for eating are on hand (e.g. mama ines on c/ hortaleza). the immediate environment is gentrifying, but doesn't look to have fully left behind its previous red light incarnation.

The hostal has a hotel feel to it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they even store our bags while we did a quick trip to Paris. Rooms were clean and nice, not super big but good enough for two people. It was quiet and on a good location, right around the corner of La Gran Via. The only...

Hostal Ballesta is very good located in the city center of Madrid - ideal for sightseeing, shopping and nightlife (everything in walking distance). Because we had a room backyard on third level it was very quiet. The window was only facing a wall and did not have french balconys like the ones to the front of the hostal. But thus...

It is right in the city center, the price is just amazing, though you need to walk into the inner street to the entrance of hotel. It is tidy and bit small for the room. The lobby is small. Beware of the rooms near the lift as it is a bit noisy.

Very interesting for the low price. Near to the center town and to all common transport such as metro and renfe. Hotel employees are very nice and always available if you have any problem. The only negative point is the prositutes that are always near the hotel.

Nice and cozy hostal, located 2 blocks away from La Gran Vía, very centric and just near many turist attractions. Bedroom was OK, not big but comfortable. Everything seemed very clean. Does not include breakfast. Contains safety box in the room.

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
