I've stayed at this hotel during the month of June, for 8 nights. It is located in a very safe area and it is literally steps behind Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and from there, across the street, Prado Museum. So the location is excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was a bit of noise, even in the night, as... More

This was our first stay at Hostal Olga and we will certainly be back. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable and secure and the staff were attentive and helpful. The location is outstanding; right in the centre of all the best parts of Madrid - just a walk anywhere and the price was extremely competitive with free wi-fi included. Highly... More

We stayed here some 5 days. It's just behind the Cortes and around the corner is La Zarzuela and 5 min walk from Puerta de Sol. The personnel was very nice and help full, this is an old hostel and a bit used but clean

Been there on February 2013 with my sister for 3 nights. The city was cold but the spacious and lovely room wasn't. The bathroom was huge! Breakfasts were always a treat :) location is fantastic, the stuff very were helpful. The only minus is that we arrived early in the morning (7am) straight from buenos aires, a long- long flight.... Helpful personnel, comfortable bed and great location. Ask for ground floor room at back for quiet. Close to major attractions. This hostal is a very good budget choice and is quite safe: it's just behind the Congreso de los Diputados where police are stationed 24/7.

First of all the location... It could hardly be better. This place is just behind the Congreso de los Diputados (equivalent to the (UK) House of Commons) with armed police stationed 24/7 right across the road, so the potential for street violence is zero. Moreover, it is (easy) walking distance from the three major art galleries, from the Puerta Del... More

Clean, basic, good value, safe location opposite police station, central for all attractions, ask for room on ground floor at back, very quiet, bar next door for breakfast. No English spoken but not a problem. Beds rather lumpy!

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
