We were booked into this hotel by Santiago Ways tour company. This was the final night of our Pilgrimage on the Coastal Portuguese Camino. It was by far the worst place we stayed! The room was tiny and faced onto the street; at night a street light shown into the room even with the metal privacy shutters down which constantly rattled with street traffic or even the wind; there was also a lot of street noise from vehicles and people. The walls were apparently thin as we heard people in the hallway (somewhat drunk and/or loud) in the early hours of the morning. The front desk was not manned 24hrs; after 8-9pm (I forget exact hour), the desk person left. The Wifi signal was horrible which made taking our "guided COVID 19 test" very difficult. You had to squeeze around the toilet to close the door of the bathroom it was so small. Finally, we were supposed to receive a breakfast from this hotel but got nothing! The only positive was that we didn't find any obvious bugs or mold! If you want a low budget option with more privacy than a hostel, I suppose it's ok but for what we paid Santiago Ways for accommodations and meals, this was a total rip-off and a very disappointing way to end to our Pilgrimage.…
Wonderful hotel found in an emergency situation. The rooms are very clean, refreshing and comfy. Front of house staff are simply wonderful and the continental breakfast included was very filling and plentiful. It wAs a joy to stay at a very reasonably priced hotel
The Hotel had an old musty smell. There was no hairdryer in the room so after my shower I had to dress and go to reception in order to get one. The breakfast was very sub standard, cheap watery highly coloured yogurts, awful "plastic" ham, cheese was OK, synthetic tasting croissaints and rolls, coffee was weak, the only nice thing was the fresh crusty bread. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is relaxing, it is directly across the road from the old town area, so easy to get to. After arriving we rested before eating out that night. The breakfast was a buffet and sufficient as we were no longer walking that day. Breakfast did not start early. After breakfast all 33 of us headed out into the old town before returning at 13.30 to catch our coach to the airport. We found that we were having to sit up the stairs etc as the reception area is of modest size..
This hotel is well-located just on the edge of the old town, about 10 minutes from the Cathedral. You just have to cross the road and go up an alley and you are in the beautiful old part of town. It has wifi and is clean and comfortable, though when we checked in in the afternoon after a very wet last day on the Camino, the water in the showers was not very hot. My room had a heater which was very useful for drying wet clothes and boots, but was in the attic part of the hotel so had only a velux-style window with only a view of the sky! There was also a bath in my room. Breakfast was reasonable by Camino standards. While this is a very good choice if you're on a budget, otherwise I'd suggest rewarding yourself with somewhere a little more luxurious if you've just completed the Camino. Staff were helpful and friendly with good English.…
