The hotel is in a great location, on a lovely square and close to everything. As I was travelling by myself the room was big enough, clean and with a comfortable bed. I didn't find the staff particularly welcoming or friendly. A couple of small things to me would have made a big difference: no hand towel or bath mat and no soap. I have noticed that I am not the only one who mentioned this and I really believe that it is important for the hotel to read reviews and take the suggestions on board. It doesn't cost anything but it shows willingness to listen and to care about your clients.
This is not a luxury hotel but it is pleasant, clean and central to everything. If you want a quiet night’s sleep book an alley room And keep drapes closed. If you want the view of the plaza, it will be noisy. Room is small but prices reflect that. The staff is pleasant. You can eat there or choose any number of places nearby. We dined in other restaurants. The bathroom is clean and modern but does lack washcloths. We left our do not disturb signs on and returned to find a bag of towels, soap, and tp outside the room. Nice gesture! Room is a bit snug for 2 but great for one.
We spent w nights at Hotel Paca de la Font. There was virtually no room to open our two large suitcases... so we didn't! The room was very clean. The nights (admittedly a Friday and Saturday) were quite noisy until 0400. Door slamming. Partying outside. Bring your earplugs if you wish to sleep before then. Staff was very cordial and helpful. It's just that the building is ultimately not suited for a reasonably quiet experience. It is adjacent to the Place de la Font after all!
This was the fifth hotel that we stayed at during our travels; and this was the only hotel that was not welcoming upon arrival. The lady on reception hardly uttered two words to us and it leaves me with the impression that she either dislikes her job or people! I regret not having booked a room with a balcony which would have overlooked the Square; instead, our room's window provided a view of the back view of a neighbouring building - no natural light! Overall, a clean room and bathroom. We ordered a simple meal on the first night of our stay and based on that chose to eat elsewhere for all our meals. The hotel is located in the Historic district so there's lots to walk and see. A walk to the Amphitheatre and hop on/hop off train as well as the promenade is only about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The beach is about a 20 minute walk but well worth the effort!! This town is well worth visiting for its history, recreation and leisure/dining out. A reasonable priced hotel and a great location especially if your main intention is to be in the Historic District, which was our main intention.…
So, okay, this is not the Ritz or a Four Season hotel, but it is clean. Okay, there is no soap (just packets of liquid stuff), no bath mat, and no face clothes, but the bathroom is more than serviceable and hot water is plentiful. What made our stay so enjoyable was the warm friendly staff who always have a smile and who are eager to offer advice. One evening when the restaurant we want to go to was closed for vacation, the woman at the desk told us where NOT to go (anywhere in the Plaç de la Font, which is only for tourist who do not know better) and told us about a lovely place up the hill near the cathedral. The charming young man who works in the morning and serves breakfast was equally helpful. This is a place for location, not for luxury.
