Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Big airy room as you'd expect in a four star business/convention hotel
Large well appointed bathroom
Comfortable bed
Big terrace with (very small) pool overlooking the city – actually not a very pretty view as most of the nicest part obscured – but still a sense of expanse and view

Didn’t like
Blasting music on terrace at all times I was there.
Breakfast was appalling. It was explained to us when we arrived that due to covid they did not allow guests to serve themselves at a buffet but that there would be someone at the counter to serve us and get us what we wanted. What we actually found the next morning was a breakfast service more akin to something you might get at a railway station platform (and not a very good one at that) A few pastries, some prepacked items. There were some bananas and oranges. My husband spotted a fridge with some plastic packages of fruit salad. The coffee was awful. Why when so many coffee machines can provide good quality? Cups, plates and cutlery all disposable so it also looked like a station platform when people had finished. Really slow service at the counter leading to some long queues. This was so far from the standard one would expect of a hotel of this supposed quality and covid is really no excuse. Other hotels we stayed at during our trip were able to provide covid compliant breakfasts. Maybe they are trying to save money as lack of business travel must be an issue for them.
Tatty corridor carpet

I had chosen this as I wanted a hotel with a pool for relaxing after visiting the city. If returning to Girona I’d probably choose something more central and where I could escape elsewhere for breakfast if unlucky enough to find myself faced with equally poor standard of food and coffee.

i have stayed in this hotel 5 times since it opened in the middle of the last decade so i have obviously been quite fond of it. it is still a good proposition if you want decent sized rooms, strong aircon, and free parking on-site. but my 3 star rating today is because of its aging appearance...a few things are in a bad state of repair and the hotel is due some maintenance or just a full refurbishment. the curtains have holes, the wallpaper is peeling, the upholstery is worn, the furniture is scratched, and a few things are broken. with a bit of investment this hotel could now be a lot more appealing but im sure both AC and the new owners URH already know this.

Super location on a hill affords panoramic views of Girona which are especially impressive at night from the rooftop lounge bar.
Charming multi lingual receptionist was friendly, efficient and most helpful.
Room excellent. Flat screen tv with extensive range of channels available. Bathroom spacious and toiletries provided.
Could be difficult to find the hotel without satnav. Signage in Girona is appalling.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights B/B in sept. The hotel is very contemporary and the rooms are very large for a city hotel, with a fabulous extra large comfy bed. The bathrooms have the most fabulous glass wall between the bedroom and bathroom which has is a mural of Girona ( very impressive). The bathroom also has all the toiletries provided.
The breakfast was plentiful with hot and cold food, fruit and fresh pastries.
The staff are all extremely helpful and very efficient, nothing is too much trouble.
The best part of this hotel is the spectacular views over Girona from the roof top terrace bar, absolutely breath taking. Even if you don't stay in this hotel go for a drink just to experience the view, you won't be disappointed.
The roof top bar also has a plunge pool but we didn't use it, too busy exploring Girona.
The only negative to this hotel would be if you had mobility issues, the climb back up is quite steep but we did see a bus that passed the hotel.
We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The Palau is a business hotel which caters very well for the leisure traveller. It offers exceptional views from its public spaces over mid-town Girona westwards towards the Pyrenees. You'll never tire of that view. The rooms don't share the view but are comfortable and quiet with adequate space. You're more likely to get a good sleep here than in many hotels. If breakfast is your thing, this is definitely your place. A high quality and extensive choice with constant replenishment and freshly ground coffee. There's a supplement but it's worth it. The hotel bar is reasonably well stocked and competitively priced. There is onsite parking; a distinct plus if you are motor touring.

The downsides: it's located above the town and you'll need either fitness or a vehicle to access it. It's about a 15 minute walk to the old town, so accessibility is not a deal breaker. The breakfast space is relatively compact and only starts serving at 7:30am. Staffing levels are modest. Whilst the staff are helpful and friendly, you need to sort out your own arrangements including taxis. There are no tea/coffee facilities in-room, although snacks and nespresso pod coffees are available in the foyer as a paid option. The rooms are fraying a little at the edges, but that's a picky point. Our aircon failed during our stay and we had to do a room change.

On balance, this is a good Girona choice for either a business or leisure traveller.

The most outstanding thing about this hotel, as the name suggests, is the view. We would probably return again on this basis (as long as the price wasn’t too extortionate). Re: the latter, book through the hotel group website as it was about 10-15% cheaper than the global booking sites.

Reason why it doesn’t get 5*? Pool is not a ‘swimming’ pool - barely larger than a hot tub (seriously). No team and coffee facilities in the room. No iron / ironing board and staff would not supply one on request, so if you are there for 1-2 days and want to press any clothes, forget it. Breakfast was good for a continental but lacked decent hot plate options… staff were very friendly though as they were throughout the hotel.

Do venture out to the Taverna de l’angel 2mins walk away for lunch (it looks closed but is open 12-4pm). Not Michelin star level but wholesome and good value and a friendly quirky ambience.

For dinner, the old town is less than 15mins walk away and endless options available for all tastes, occasions and budgets.

Very nice place and nice staff, I’d give a 5* if only they would have stopped using single use plastic containers for shampoos and shower gel. And would put glass bottled water ont he rooms instead of plastic. So many better and nicer solution than those… in 2021 its more than time to be proactive on those topics

This hotel is not at all intended for individuals and especially not for vacationers.
Mostly busy for congresses or companies for seminars and others.
So when we find ourselves with a hundred people from the same group! only noise and the service is intended almost exclusively for them. The place at breakfast is difficult to find and very noisy! Anything but a vacation!
No kettle in the room. View from the room on the hotel wall. Finally, definitely not worth the price! Very disappointed

Way to expensive for what it is. The swimming pool is nothing like the pictures, furniture is broken and worn out and the airconditioning is old. It is clear that this hotel has not been maintained for a long time, it needs to be freshened up and needs some re-styling. Especially when they want to keep charging these prices. It’s a shame as the location is great.

The rooftop pool and outdoor terrace makes this place. It’s a great spot to cool off and survey the city, although it could do with more shade.
At the weekend there was a DJ and it was perfect for a late night drink.
The room was a bit stark and corporate (greys and blacks) and is getting tatty. There needs a bit of maintenance.
Checkin was onerous. We’d stayed at a number of hotels in the week before and there other places were not as “jobsworth”.
Equally the breakfast was poor. It was an assisted buffet but really it was a cold and limited offering. Very very poor. No other hotel (out of 7) felt the need to do this. It feels possibly like a way to reduce the costs of breakfast.
Premade sandwiches, packaged fruit that was not fresh, terrible coffee. It was bad.
