Super location on a hill affords panoramic views of Girona which are especially impressive at night from the rooftop lounge bar. Charming multi lingual receptionist was friendly, efficient and most helpful. Room excellent. Flat screen tv with extensive range of channels available. Bathroom spacious and toiletries provided. Could be difficult to find the hotel without satnav. Signage in Girona is appalling.
Even though I'm not Anglophone I'm writing in English so that the staff understands that even if a guest isn't from an English-speaking country he may speak/understand, if not Queen's English, at least very basic English. Positive aspects: - Location, very near to the city centre - View - Parking included Negative aspects: - Swimming pool: Besides having to pay for the towels (1st time in forever in my life) there are rules one has to follow. Now, as for the rules I completely understand as we're in a pandemic etc. It's impossible not to agree with this policy as what the client is asked is to reserve a slot for using the pool, to ensure social distancing. The other rule we were asked to comply with was, as above-mentioned, to use only the pool's towels but that's something one can get, for hygienic reasons. Now...how come we go to the pool in the reserved time slot and there's no room for us and, moreover, other guests use towels brought from their rooms? Now I'm asking, ¿porque hacer reglas para después no cumplirlas? It sounds like a joke to me but fine - attention to the client If a room is expected to host 3 people one generally imagines it's equipped for 3, not for 2. …
The rooftop pool and outdoor terrace makes this place. It’s a great spot to cool off and survey the city, although it could do with more shade. At the weekend there was a DJ and it was perfect for a late night drink. The room was a bit stark and corporate (greys and blacks) and is getting tatty. There needs a bit of maintenance. Checkin was onerous. We’d stayed at a number of hotels in the week before and there other places were not as “jobsworth”. Equally the breakfast was poor. It was an assisted buffet but really it was a cold and limited offering. Very very poor. No other hotel (out of 7) felt the need to do this. It feels possibly like a way to reduce the costs of breakfast. Premade sandwiches, packaged fruit that was not fresh, terrible coffee. It was bad.
Needed a short city shopping break. This hotel is outside the bustle but still within 10minutes easy walk from Placa Catalunya. Takes longer on the wayback. Great views from the lovely terrace. Room was adequate. We couldn't figure out the lights though - the reading light seemed to be on the same circuit as the main lights - so all on or all off! Loads of parking - free. Breakfast (not included) was vile- all prepacked with lots of plastic wrapping - like being on a plane. Would recommend walking down to town to get breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Gym was closed- Covid?
i have stayed in this hotel 5 times since it opened in the middle of the last decade so i have obviously been quite fond of it. it is still a good proposition if you want decent sized rooms, strong aircon, and free parking on-site. but my 3 star rating today is because of its aging appearance...a few things are in a bad state of repair and the hotel is due some maintenance or just a full refurbishment. the curtains have holes, the wallpaper is peeling, the upholstery is worn, the furniture is scratched, and a few things are broken. with a bit of investment this hotel could now be a lot more appealing but im sure both AC and the new owners URH already know this.
