A fabulous, family run hotel in the heart of the old and very beautiful city of Girona.

The original building has been tastefully refurbished whilst retaining much of the original architecture within both the hotel and the rooms. We stayed there on 2 separate occasions during our trip and on both occasions the rooms were of a very high standard. Buffet breakfast is served in the morning with a wide range of items to choose from.

The owners are very attentive to your needs, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our luggage was lost by our airline and was due to be delivered to the hotel just after we checked out to go on a 4 day cycling trip. The owners said not to worry, they would receive our luggage, put it away somewhere safe and it would be there for us when we returned.

Girona itself is a very popular cycling destination and if you are thinking of bringing a bike or renting one not to worry, the Historic has a safe place where you can store them when you are not out cycling.

Also if you're fan of Game of Thrones the hotel is a stones throw away from many of the major filming locations.

We stayed in 8 different hotels on this trip through Spain and the Historic was our favorite, we would definitely visit again.

A beautiful, sensitively restored historic and family run hotel in the old part of town close to the cathedral, with steps and alleyways leading to cafes and restaurants. We had a lovely clean and spacious first floor room with ensuite bathroom and comfortable beds. There was an excellent breakfast with fresh fruit, cereals and eggs cooked to order in the vaulted dining room. There is a great view of the cathedral and the rooftops from the top floor roof terrace, particularly at night. We cycled from Girona and were given secure storage for our bikes in the lobby. We had problems sleeping the first night due to a street light opposite our window. There were no curtains, just a thin external wooden blind that let the light through. After we reported this, the owners were really helpful and temporarily blacked out the windows on the second night, so we had a great night's sleep. Thanks guys and maybe invest in some curtains or internal blinds going forward. We have stayed here before, several years ago and liked it even more second time around, particularly being so convenient for the city sights.

Room Tip: Girona has a lot of steps and narrow alleyways, so you need to be reasonably fit.

Me & my husband booked "Romantic package", stayed only 1 day & half.
Room was nicely decorated, hotel is in historic building which really impresses you.
Location is perfect, just 3 minutes walk from the main cathedral.
This is family owned small hotel, nice people, always ready to give a recommendation about sightseeings or food.
Breakfast was fabulous.
Only disadvantage is the address, which is not correctly marked in GOOGLE map, this should be fixed by owners.
Just a little note, its not even disadvantage - when I asked for a warm blanket they gave us without covering /duvet, it was stained & definitely worn by previous gust (there was lots of stains on it).
Rest was very nice & generally memorable trip.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel arranged a taxi for us from the airport and it was very well organised, the taxi dropped us in the square nearby and directed us to walk a short way to the front of the hotel. I can imagine it’s difficult to find if driving yourself.
On arrival, we were let in the front door and walked to the front desk. There was a man and a woman, I believe to be the owners, and they didn’t even look up when we came in. They were silent as they checked us in and asked us to pay immediately. We needed WiFi to sort out our Monzo account, but they refused to let us use the WiFi in reception? We paid with a different card and they showed us to the lift to room 208, reminding us not to use the WiFi until we were in the room.
The room itself was spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, the balcony was small but looked over the front of the hotel where it was quiet. The bathroom was nice and had a modern shower. The room was cleaned daily which was great. I loved the decor in the room, keeping traditional aspects such as the stone walls and light shades but with modern twists to it.
Unfortunately, the couple didn’t really acknowledge our presence the whole time we were there, and whilst we didn’t talk to them a huge amount, when we did it seemed a little rushed and I never felt very welcome. There were never any suggestions or recommendations, or even a smile as we walked in and out. We asked for an umbrella once and this was refused immediately.
We can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t eat here - we decided to try out the many fab places to eat in Girona instead. We were going to have breakfast on the day of our flight home however breakfast is 8:30-10:30am which seems late for hotel breakfasts, and meant we couldn’t fit it in before our taxi at 9am.
The location was perfect and very central to a lot of places, but up a lot of steps / hills so you would need to stay elsewhere if you had any mobility issues.
Overall, the stay was comfortable and clean but the staff were not as friendly or welcoming as I’m used to in a 4 star hotel. I would rate this 3 stars, as nothing major stood out to me.

A beautiful building in prime position in the heart of old Girona. The building has been tastefully renovated and decorated. The manager gave us information on Girona on arrival.

However… this is not a four star hotel. There wasn’t even water left in the rooms for guests, which is a basic especially in this heat! We were waved in the direction of a vending machine by the lift for water, Coke or beer- not impressed. The room only had a shower attachment over a small bath, no stand up shower. Plastic glasses in the bathroom. The fridge was old and stained. The bed was rickety and squeaky. The electronic door keys only work intermittently. There was nobody there on morning checkout so we made our own arrangements for transport.

A few thoughtful attentions to detail would make all the difference to this hotel. It’s good to support a family business but at this price, staff could be hired to man the reception more frequently and more welcoming details could be invested in at little cost. Just because you are in prime position in a tourist area, doesn’t mean you should shirk the detail.

Despite the best efforts by the hotel front of house this is not a four star hotel. We had a number of problems with the first room allocated including a lack of curtains onto a brightly lit square, a broken glass bathroom door and being absolutely adjacent to the lift shaft. To their credit the staff on reception changed our room to one with shutters but the bathroom floor flooded whenever used. The character of the hotel is quirky and position in the old city is good . However this makes it very difficult to find and we had a nightmare navigating the narrow lanes of the old city by car. My advice would be to make for the Placa San Domenq and walk the rest of the way. My thanks to Javier who did his best for us but it was not the luxury boutique experience we had hoped for.

This hotel is located in a beautifully preserved historic building located up behind the cathedral in the old town. Our room was beautifully done but would have preferred a shower as was impossible to wash long hair without soaking the floor and definitely not a full glass door into the bathroom! The bed was so comfortable which was much needed after a hike uphill with luggage so get a taxi as no parking. The couple who run it are lovely and very helpful. We didnt opt for breakfast but it is on offer for 16 euros pp. A fridge in the room would be nice as there isnt a bar albeit there is a vending machine. All in all, despite the steep climb to this hotel, there is alot to love about it and enjoyed my return trip to Girona one of my fave Spanish cities.

I and my wife spent 3 nights at the hotel. We stayed at the apartment, because there were no disponibility in the rooms of the hotel. Although the apartment could be better decorated and less cold than it is, our complaint is not with the apartment. In fact since our arrive at the hotel we feeled as we were bothering the hotel personal. Our first impression at the reception was definitely not good but it was even worse at the breakfast. It seems that a couple is responsible for the hotel. And they were not any time friendly with us!! In one day we were delayed for the breakfast (in fact I thought that the breakfast would finish at 10:30 and we arrived at 10:15 hs). The woman of the couple was not able to say "good morning" to us, and when I asked for a "tortilla" she was very rude saying that the breakfast had finished. Although she brought the "tortilla" some minutes after, our impression with her could not change. And I really don't understand why this hotel has been classified as a 4 stars hotel!! The reception is on only during the morning and until the midle of the afternoon, and after these period there is no service to the guests. We have been travelling a lot to Europe and I have never seen a 4 stars hotel withou a 24 hs service!!!. I definitely do not recommend this hotel in Girona. The very good location of the hotel is not compensated by the bad humor of the personal of the hotel.

Fabulous location in the old city by the cathedral. Great value. Clean. Adequate amenities. Would definitely come again. For a short stay it was perfect however lacked a few of the comforts that often make a difference. For example, no tea and coffee making facilities (but when asked have us a kettle), no bottled water in room. However proprietor was helpful.

Beautifully restored historic building in the heart of the old city with just a few hotel rooms. This is a family run place and tended to with great kindness. Our room was small but comfortable. We enjoyed the communal terrace for a glass of wine before going out to dinner with views of the illuminated church bell tower. We felt very well taken care of and enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

I would advise dropping off the car and taking a taxi to the hotel, since the streets that allow cars in the old city are limited, and even in the 'new' city no easy trip. The taxi drivers know the way. Returning your car can be tricky because you have to be going in the right direction on the street the car place is on, so the garage is on your right. When picking up your car, ask for very specific instructions for getting to the garage. Otherwise you may be frustrated and trapped by one-way streets and no-left-turn intersections.

We had the Angels Suite on the top floor. It did not have a balcony, but it had wonderful windows across the front of the building, and the terrace was a few steps away. Other rooms described on the website list balconies as a feature, and I would trust them because the owner is wonderful.

You can park for free in a parking lot just outside the walled old town. The hotel is a very short walk away. Email the owner. He is very helpful.
